Your Trim Decides Which Front Bumper You Can Buy

Trim can rule a bumper out on its own. Frontier does not cut the Original front bumper for a Sport on the 1996 through 2001 truck. On the 2009 through 2012 trucks, neither the Original nor the Xtreme fits a Sport or an Express. Same on the 2013 through 2018 trucks, where Ram sold those trims a body-colored front bumper with its own part numbers. On a standard trim the badge rules nothing out, though the year still does.

Heavier of the two fronts is the Original, wearing the diamond-plate face the brand is known for. On the 1996 through 2001 truck it runs 165 pounds, and 188 on the 2009 through 2018 body. Factory tow hooks and fog lights stay put.

Electronics matter on the two newest fits. From 2013 the Original is listed for factory park assist. For the 2019 and newer body it weighs 178 pounds and handles the sensors, with or without the front camera.

Want less steel hanging off the front axle? That is the Xtreme. It weighs 136 to 138 pounds, uses 11-gauge steel with a thicker 3/16-inch center, and carries contoured upper loops instead of a full face. Its run covers 2003 through 2018 only. No front bumper in this collection lists a winch mount, and the Xtreme states outright that it is not winch ready. Plan recovery gear around the hitch at the back instead.

Pick the Rear Bumper by What Is Already Under Your Truck

The Diamond rear bumper runs 2003 through 2018. Nothing covers an older Ram, and nothing covers the newest body. A 2019 truck takes a front bumper or a guard from this page, not a rear.

Inside that run, three things on your truck pick the part number. Exhaust comes first. The 2009 through 2018 trucks split into dual-exhaust and single-exhaust versions, and the single-exhaust piece is listed from 2010, so a 2009 truck with one pipe falls outside it. Sensors come second. The 2009 and newer rears are punched for the factory back-up sensors. The 2003 through 2008 rears have no sensor provision at all.

Lights come third, and this one is a straight choice. Every fitment comes two ways, one with LED back-up lights built into the steel and one without them. Single-exhaust parts add a corner assist step. All of them clear the factory hitch. At 78 to 84 pounds they weigh roughly half what the fronts do.

The Grille Guard Covers the Years the Bumpers Miss

This is the piece that catches everything else. Frame-mounted and ahead of the factory bumper, it runs 100 to 126 pounds depending on the year. A punched steel screen goes over the grille, with tubing wrapping the headlights. Owners often call it a brush guard. No year is missing from the line. On a 1994 through 1995 or a 2002 Ram, it is the only steel on this page.

On the older trucks one guard serves the whole family. The three guards covering 1994 through 2008 are each listed for the Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 together. Run a half-ton and a heavy-duty Ram of the same era and you order the same part twice.

From 2009 the sensors split it. Two guards fit that truck. One relocates the factory front park assist sensors into the guard. The other will not work on a truck that has them. Sport and Express owners taking the sensor version need the factory sensor bezels, and the no-sensor guard skips the Express entirely. Ten pounds and that one feature separate them, so go by the part number.

The newest guard is cut for the sensors, with or without the front camera. Two limits come with it. The factory tow hooks do not carry over, and it skips the Rebel, RHO, TRX and Tungsten. Then there is the body question. Frontier lists these newest parts for the new body, and the Ram 1500 Classic kept the older shape through 2024. Match the body, not just the year.
