A single raised bar across the center, shielding the grille without reaching over the headlights. It keeps the front lighter and more open than the full guard while still putting steel where the grille needs it.

No Guard

The bumper alone, no hoop over the grille. It carries the diamond-plate Black Steel face and the tow hooks in the cleanest, lowest form, for the owner who wants the steel bumper without the guard on top.

What Comes on the Black Steel, and What You Can Add

Every Black Steel front bumper comes with factory-style tow hooks bolted in, so the recovery points are there from day one. What it doesn't carry from the factory is a winch or a light bar. Black Steel is a guard bumper first.

Fab Fours makes the parts to build it out from there. A bolt-in winch tray drops a winch behind the Black Steel face, and bolt-on D-ring mounts (the shackle points for a tow strap) and a 2-inch front receiver add the recovery points a work truck leans on. All of it is sold separately, and none of it is welding or cutting. It bolts to what is already on the bumper. Start with the guard, and add the winch and the rings when the work calls for them.

What to Know Before You Buy

Fitment. Each Black Steel is cut for one truck and one year range, and it bolts to the frame with the brackets and hardware in the box, with no cutting or drilling on nearly every fitment. It goes on heavy-duty trucks most often, but it fits half-tons too; the Ford F150 page shows the light-truck side of the range. Plan on a helper and a couple of hours in the driveway.

Weight. Black Steel is a mid-to-heavy bumper. Lighter fitments run around 70 pounds, and a heavy-duty full guard climbs toward 300, since the steel scales with the truck. The exact weight is listed on each product, so you know what you're lifting before it ships.

Winch. Out of the box, Black Steel has no winch. Bolt in the Fab Fours winch tray and one mounts behind the face. If you want a winch built into the bumper from the start, look at the Matrix and Premium series, the winch-built Fab Fours bumpers; Black Steel adds it as a bolt-on when you need it.

Lights and sensors. Black Steel has no built-in light-bar mount. Lighting was never part of this bumper's job. Factory parking sensors usually don't relocate to the front bumper, and it varies by year, while the rear comes in sensor and non-sensor versions. Read the fit notes on your exact truck and year before you order.

Finish. Every Black Steel ships in gloss black powder coat over the diamond plate. It's black, one color, no chrome and no paint match. The Elite version of this bumper trades the diamond plate for a smooth matte face if you want the cleaner look instead.
