What Rules Out a Front Bumper

Run these before anything else. Each takes a minute and saves a return.

• Which 2019 you own. Chevy sold two different trucks that year. One was the redesigned Silverado 1500. The other was the Silverado 1500 LD, the older truck kept on one more year as a cheaper double cab with the 5.3L V8. Every front bumper here listed for 2019 through 2021 leaves the LD out, and Hammerhead says so on the listing.
• Adaptive cruise. Most of the 2019 through 2021 fronts carry the same line in capitals: this bumper does not work with adaptive cruise. That is a flat no, not a note to work around. Factory parking sensors are a different matter, and plenty of the fronts here take them.
• A 2022 or 2023 truck. No front bumper on this page fits one. The 2022 refresh changed the nose, and the next Silverado 1500 front Hammerhead built is a 2024 part. Your rear bumper options are untouched.

Two smaller notes. Some of the 2003 through 2006 fronts and the 1999 through 2006 rears exclude the Avalanche, so read the listing if that is your truck. And the 2014 and 2015 fronts are separate parts from the 2016 through 2018 fronts, so order by your exact year rather than by the body.

How Much Steel Over the Grille

Four styles, and these are the names to shop by.

• Low Profile: nothing above the bumper. The only style that runs the whole catalog, from the 1988 trucks to the newest ones. The lightest front here is one of these, at 121.9 lb.
• Pre-Runner: a tube hoop across the center of the grille, made from 1.75 inch tubing with a 0.120 inch wall. Room for lights on the hoop. Every era has one except the latest.
• Formed Guard: formed sheet metal in place of the tube hoop, offered on the 2019 through 2021 trucks alone. It is the only guarded front here under 140 lb.
• Full Brush Guard: the most steel of the four, with outer tubes past the center hoop. The heaviest bumper on this page is one of these, at 261 lb. Hammerhead warns on all of them that oversized fender flares do not always clear those outer tubes. Two eras go without one: the 1988 through 1998 trucks, and the 2019 through 2021 trucks.

Lights and trail work push you toward the Pre-Runner or the Full Brush Guard. A closer-to-factory look and the lowest weight keep you on the Low Profile.

Then the winch question, which is the one you cannot revisit. A non-winch front has no tray and no front receiver, and there is no way to add either one afterward. Non-winch fronts run from 2007 through 2021. Everything older, and everything from 2024 on, is winch-ready only. One part carries an extra note: the winch-ready Pre-Runner for 2019 through 2021 has not been tested on the diesel trucks.

The Rear Bumper Has No Gaps

The back of this truck is the easy half. There is no model year since 1988 without a rear bumper, and the 2019 and newer part carries straight through the years the fronts skip.

The steel is thicker back there. Every rear bumper here is quarter-inch plate, heavier than the steel on the fronts. Every rear here comes with shackle mounts. They are welded through the bumper, inside and out, and tie into the frame mount itself. Hammerhead states tag lights as well, unless the part uses the factory ones.

Two details decide which rear you need. On the 1999 through 2006 trucks, bed style matters, and there is a Step Side part. On the 2007 through 2018 trucks the rears are cut for factory parking sensors, and the 2019 and newer part works with blind spot monitoring.
