Addictive Desert Designs Started in the Desert
Jared Hare founded Addictive Desert Designs in 2007, and in 2008 he was part of Ford's Raptor R team at the SCORE Baja 1000. Desert racing punishes anything that hangs low or sticks out. That is why ADD draws bumpers that pull back toward the body and clear the ground on the way up a rock face.
Building happens in Chandler, Arizona. Sheet steel goes in one end and a bumper comes out the other. Lasers cut it, a press brake bends it, and welders finish it by hand. Then it gets sandblasted, primed and powder coated.
Across the 185 ADD bumpers we have sold, close to four in ten were Stealth Fighters and seven in ten were fronts. ADD bumpers for the Ford F150 Raptor outsell every other platform we carry for this brand by close to three to one. We also carry ADD for the standard Ford F150, the Ford Super Duty and the Chevy Silverado 1500.
ADD Plate Sits Close to the Body
The faces follow the body lines and stop close to the grille. That geometry is the reason owners who want an aggressive truck without a bulky one keep buying ADD. Steel that sits close and rises early gives you a better approach angle, the steepness you can climb into before the front end touches.
Underneath, many series carry an aluminum skid plate. Out front, Stealth Fighter, Bomber and HoneyBadger carry reinforced recovery points, and eight of ADD's series offer winch-ready versions.
The finish is hammer black powder coat over primer, with satin black on the aluminum panels and skid plates. The texture hides scuffs better than gloss. ADD rates the coat against abrasion, oil, chemicals and UV.
None of this is cheap. Fronts run $1,299 to $3,599, median $2,699. That buys plate or tube steel cut and welded in Arizona to one truck and one year range. It buys mounting room for lights a stock front end has nowhere to put, and a bumper built to your order.
Sorting the ADD Series
ADD runs seventeen named series, and the names don't tell you much. Two things sort them out: construction and thickness. Plate steel means flat stock cut to shape, and most of the line is made from it. Tubing means hollow round tube, which reads lighter and more open even where it isn't. Thickness comes two ways. Gauge counts down as steel gets thicker, so 7-gauge is thicker than 11-gauge, and fractions are direct. For reference, 11-gauge is about 1/8 inch and 7-gauge is about 3/16.
Stealth Fighter
The one bought most often, and the one that fits the most trucks. It is 11-gauge plate with a radius face that sits about half an inch farther out than the factory bumper, the tightest fit in ADD's plate lineup. The center takes a 40-inch curved bar. Ten cube lights fit the same space. Reinforced clevis mounts take 3/4-inch D-rings for recovery straps, and winch-ready versions exist for eleven of the platforms it covers. Fronts $1,899 to $2,999, rears $1,499 to $2,199. Weights 52 to 254 pounds, median 157 pounds.
Bomber and Bomber HD
Run the Bomber if lighting is the reason you're buying a bumper. It has the most light-mount options in ADD's plate series. The center takes five Baja Designs LP6 pods, six Rigid 360-Series pods, or a pair of bars in 40-inch curved, 30-inch curved or 30-inch straight. Which one depends on the truck. Each side panel takes a cube light on top of that. The body is 7-gauge plate, and a 3/16-inch aluminum skid plate runs underneath. Trucks without parking sensors get hole plugs in the box. Bomber HD is the rear for the Ram 2500/3500, Sierra 2500 and Silverado 2500, and winch-ready versions exist for the Silverado 2500/3500 front. Fronts $1,999 to $3,599, rears $1,799 to $1,999. Weights 53 to 232 pounds, median 160 pounds.
HoneyBadger
HoneyBadger is the one with a bar across the grille. Steel plate face and a tubular hoop. A removable aluminum skid plate runs underneath. The top mount takes a 40-inch curved bar or ten cubes. The sides take 10-inch bars or dually pods, the small four-LED squares that mount at the corners. Winch-ready versions exist for four of its fronts. Gauge varies by fitment. Your listing says which. Fronts $2,199 to $3,199, rears $2,499 to $2,899. Weights 80 to 230 pounds, median 153 pounds.
Phantom
Phantom is the newest of the core series we carry, and the lightest of them. Knife-edge lines, low profile, plate steel. A 3/16-inch aluminum skid plate runs underneath. On Raptor fitments that plate is vented, and the factory intercooler stays where it sits. The center takes a 20-inch curved bar and each side takes a 10-inch. Winch-ready versions exist for six fitments, including both Jeeps. Fronts $1,999 to $2,999, rears $1,399 to $1,899. Weights 61 to 203 pounds, median 107 pounds.
PRO Bolt-On
PRO Bolt-On is the prerunner shape, stripped down to tube. It is .120-inch wall steel tubing instead of plate. A CNC-cut aluminum skid plate runs underneath, and the bumper goes on without cutting the frame. The center takes six cubes or one 20-inch curved bar. No PRO Bolt-On has a built-in winch mount. ADD sells a separate kit that bolts to the frame on some Raptor years, and it doesn't fit the Raptor R or any 2024 and newer Raptor. Fronts $1,899 to $2,999, rears $2,099 to $2,499. Weights 55 to 159 pounds, median 129 pounds.
Black Label
Black Label is the plain one, and the one to pick when the truck is a daily driver first. The front is a three-piece plate steel design with no guard and no winch mount, and the center takes one 20-inch bar and nothing else. It fits the F150 outside the Raptor, the Silverado 1500 and the Sierra 1500. Fronts $1,599, rears $1,399. Weights 68 to 88 pounds, the lightest line ADD builds.
Rears
Most ADD series have a matching rear. A Stealth Fighter rear wears the same radius face and the same hammer black as the front. Sensor-specific listings exist on the modern trucks. Rears run $1,399 to $2,899, median $1,799.
Platform-Specific Series
Bronco and Jeep. Rock Fighter is the trail bumper for the Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, winch-ready on both Broncos. Krawler is Bronco-only, with a winch mount and light wings.
Raptor. Rock Fighter has a Raptor fitment too. Race Series is a tubular Raptor bumper, and its Dovetail rear is cut back at the corners to clear race fenders. Stealth R and Venom R are Raptor prerunners, with vented skid plates on the 2017-2020 fitments.
Build-shop parts. PRO Frame Cut chases the most approach angle in the lineup, and it is a shop install: the frame gets cut and the intercooler moves. Stealth Center Mount is a winch-ready Tacoma front.
We also carry ADD for the Bronco, Bronco Raptor, Ram TRX, Colorado, Canyon, Ranger, Wrangler JL and Gladiator, none of which appear in the menu above. Send us your year, model and trim and we'll confirm it.
What It Takes to Run Lights
ADD cuts the light mounting in at the factory, so the holes are already there.
A light bar is the long strip across the center, sized in inches, and curved bars follow the face instead of sitting flat. Cube lights are the small square pods at the corners, throwing light off to the sides. Most people run a bar for distance and cubes for the ditches.
Most series take generic sizes: a 40-inch bar, ten cubes, or a 20-inch bar. The Bomber goes further and cuts its mounts for specific brands, Rigid and Baja Designs among them. Lights and winches are separate purchases. Your listing says which sizes and pod patterns your bumper takes.
What to Know Before You Buy
Who you're buying from. We are an authorized Addictive Desert Designs dealer. The ADD warranty applies to what you buy here. Shipping is free and Free Sales Tax applies on every order.
Fitment. ADD builds to one truck and one year range, so an ADD bumper lands on factory mounting points and lines up with the body it was cut for. Your listing carries the fit notes for your truck, and if anything on it needs a second look, send us your year, model and trim and we'll confirm it.
Weight, delivery and install. Most ADD bumpers run 60 to 200 pounds, and most bolt to factory mounting points with hand tools. Anything that heavy ships freight. Look the crate over before you sign for it. Plan on two people and a floor jack while you start the bolts.
Price. Fronts run $1,299 to $3,599, median $2,699. Rears run $1,399 to $2,899, median $1,799. Per-series prices sit with each series above. Lights and winches are separate purchases.
Warranty and timing. ADD covers defects in workmanship and materials for one year from purchase, and repairs or replaces at their option. The coverage runs to the original purchaser and does not transfer. Most ADD bumpers are built to order. Ask us about timing before you book an install day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which ADD series should I buy?
Start with the Stealth Fighter. It fits more trucks than anything else ADD makes, it takes a winch on eleven platforms, and it is the one our customers buy most. Go to the Bomber if you are building around lights, the HoneyBadger if you want a bar across the grille, the Phantom if you want the newest look at the lightest weight, and the Black Label if the truck is a daily driver that should just look sharper.
Will an ADD bumper work with my truck's parking sensors?
Yes on most trucks. ADD cuts sensor openings where the truck needs them, and the Bomber ships with plugs for the holes if yours has no sensors. Your listing carries the sensor notes for your fitment. Send us your year, model and trim and we'll confirm it.
Do I keep adaptive cruise control with an ADD bumper?
Yes on most trucks. Some series move the cruise module onto a bracket that ADD supplies, and it keeps working. The exception worth knowing is Super Cruise on GM half-tons, which four of the rear bumpers do not clear. Send us your year, model and trim and we'll confirm it.
What does an ADD bumper cost?
Front bumpers run $1,299 to $3,599, median $2,699. Rear bumpers run $1,399 to $2,899, median $1,799. The lowest-priced fronts are the Tacoma Stealth Center Mount at $1,299 and Black Label at $1,599. Lights and winches are separate purchases.
Can I run a winch on an ADD bumper?
On the right series, yes. Winch-ready versions exist across Stealth Fighter, HoneyBadger, Phantom including both Jeeps, Rock Fighter on the Broncos, Stealth R, Krawler, the Tacoma Stealth Center Mount, and one Bomber front for the Silverado 2500/3500. Black Label has none. PRO Bolt-On has no built-in mount, though ADD sells a separate kit that bolts to the frame on some Raptor years and doesn't fit the Raptor R. Capacity depends on the bumper and the truck, so check the rating on your listing rather than assuming a number.
Do I need a shop to install one?
Usually not. Most ADD bumpers bolt to factory mounting points with hand tools, which puts them inside what a competent home mechanic can do in a driveway. The catch is weight. Most run 60 to 200 pounds, and the heavier fronts need two people and a floor jack while you start the bolts.
Pick your truck from the menu above. Put the right steel on the front of it. Match it at the back when you're ready.
