Chassis Cab or Pickup Changes Which Front Bumper You Can Run

Start with the three configurations. On the No Guard, nothing rises above the bumper line. The Pre-Runner Guard sets a steel hoop over the middle of the grille, with both headlights open beside it. The Full Guard runs uprights across the grille and carries on in front of the headlights.

If your truck is a chassis cab, all three are yours. Ford does not fit adaptive cruise control or the 360-degree camera to those trucks. They leave the factory incomplete, waiting on a body, and the camera system needs a tailgate that is not there. Nothing on the truck narrows the choice. The decision is purely how you want the front end to look.

A pickup-bodied F450 from 2017 on is the one that can carry electronics in the nose, and whether it does comes down to trim. If it has adaptive cruise control, the radar has to move onto a Fab Fours bracket. That is M3850-1 on the 2017-2019 trucks and M3851-1 on the 2020-2022.

That bracket does not work with the Full Guard, so on that truck the No Guard and the Pre-Runner Guard are the two that work. A chrome grille will not clear the bracket either.

The 360-degree camera is easier. All three accommodate it, though Fab Fours notes that the Full Guard and the Pre-Runner Guard put a little steel in its view.

Older trucks stay simple. On the 1999 through 2016 front bumpers, Fab Fours flags no radar or camera conflict at all.

Which Body You Have, and What Came With It

Fab Fours cuts a separate front bumper for each Super Duty front end from 1999 on. There is a part for 1999-2004, another for 2005-2007, then 2008-2010, 2011-2016 and 2017-2022. Every one of those blocks carries all three configurations. Find your block and the part number follows.

Lighting is the clean divide between them. Through 2016 the front bumper takes your factory fog lights. From 2017 it does not, and it accepts a 3-inch by 3-inch LED cube instead. Those cubes are a separate purchase.

The front bumpers here stop at the 2022 trucks. Ford put a new front end on the Super Duty for 2023, and that body takes a different part.

Tow hooks come in the box. The winch tray and the bolt-on D-ring mounts do not, and they are ordered separately as M1650-1 and M1850-1. Each one is a full replacement for the factory bumper rather than an add-on, and the steel is too heavy to hold up alone. Line up help before you start. Only the Newest Trucks Get a Rear Bumper Here

One rear bumper on this page carries the F450 and F550 on its fitment, and it is the 2023 and newer part. Steel tread plate, gloss black, with LED reverse lights and the license plate mount included. The factory receiver hitch and the trailer wiring keep their original spots, so you hook up exactly as you did before. Fab Fours lists it as sensor compatible where the truck needs it.

Anything older than that is front only here. You will also see a 2017-2022 rear bumper in the grid. Fab Fours lists that one for the F250 and F350, so check its fitment before you order it for an F450 or F550.

The shape of the bumper explains the short list. It wants a pickup rear end behind it, with a tailgate and the factory hitch. Ford sells the F550 as a chassis cab. Behind the cab is bare frame until an upfitter hangs a body on it. The F450 comes either way.

So in practice this rear bumper suits a 2023 or newer F450 that still carries a pickup bed. A flatbed, a service body or a dump bed brings its own rear end, and there is nothing back there to bolt it to.
