Fab Fours Black Steel Bumpers for GMC Sierra 2500/3500

Two things decide which Fab Fours Black Steel bumper fits a GMC Sierra 2500HD or 3500HD. One is your model year. The other is the shape of the front bumper: No Guard, Pre-Runner Guard, or Full Guard. These are full steel replacements at both ends. The factory bumper comes off, and this one bolts on in its place.

One date does more work here than any other. The rear bumper covers the 2003 truck. The front bumper opens later, part way through 2007. If your Sierra HD is a 2007, check which half of the year it came from before you order.

Why Every Front Bumper Here Says 2007.5

GMC sold two different Sierra HD trucks in 2007. The older one carried on into that model year, badged the Classic. The new body arrived part way through and sold beside it. The two wear different front ends, so they do not take the same front bumper.

Black Steel covers the newer body only. That is why every front bumper on this page starts at 2007.5. The rear bumper answers both halves of 2007. The front bumper answers only the newer half.

Telling them apart is easy. GMC sold the older truck as a Sierra Classic, and the name still sticks to it in dealer listings and valuation guides. No Classic in the name means the newer body. If yours is a Classic, or a 2003 through 2006 Sierra HD, the rear bumper here fits and no front bumper does. The 2003-2006 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 bumpers page has the fronts other brands make for those years.

What Separates the Three Front Bumper Shapes

Five bodies take a Black Steel front bumper: 2007.5-2010, 2011-2014, 2015-2019, 2020-2023, and the 2024 and newer HD. Each is its own part, and each comes in all three shapes.

The No Guard front bumper is just the bumper. The grille and both headlights stay in the open. The Pre-Runner Guard runs a single tube up off the center of the bumper and back down, crossing low across the grille, with the lights still clear. The Full Guard is the one that shields the headlights as well as the grille. Mesh fills the grille opening behind a steel frame, and the frame reaches the corners on both sides.

Pick by what the truck meets. Livestock on the road and a deer at dusk argue for the Full Guard. A tight shop door and daily parallel parking argue against it. The Pre-Runner Guard lands between them.

One note travels with the older trucks. Nothing before the 2020 group is sensor compatible. If your Sierra HD has factory front parking sensors, start at 2020.

None of these front bumpers arrives ready for a winch. Fab Fours sells a winch tray separately, and on a truck with front sensors it is the tray or the sensors, not both.

Adaptive Cruise on a Denali Rules Out One Shape

The 2024 and newer HD takes its own front bumper. The 2020-2023 part stops at 2023, and the newer one does not reach back. Fab Fours lists that newer front bumper as sensor compatible and as compatible with the factory front camera.

One combination is out. Fab Fours states that a 2024 or newer Denali carrying adaptive cruise in the grille will not take the Full Guard. Order that truck with the Pre-Runner Guard or the No Guard instead. Check the grille before you settle on a shape. This is the one place on the page where your trim overrules your preference.

Towing Comes First on the Rear Bumper

Five rear bumpers cover this truck, one to a body: the 2003-2007 Classic, the 2007.5-2010, the 2011-2014, the 2015-2019, and the 2020 truck onward, that last one running straight through the 2024 change.

Your factory receiver hitch stays on the truck and the trailer wiring is left alone. Fab Fours makes each rear bumper to fit around what is already there. All five are pipe and formed tread plate, and all five carry the holes for the factory back-up sensors. On the 2020 and newer bumper, the reverse lighting and the plate light are part of the steel.

Blind-spot monitoring does not survive the swap. Fab Fours is explicit about it, so a Sierra HD equipped with that system loses it back there. Settle that one before you order.

If none of these is the shape you are after, the GMC Sierra 2500/3500 bumpers page carries every other line we stock for this truck. US orders carry no shipping charge, and the fit is guaranteed to your year. Armor the Sierra HD at both ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my 2007 Sierra HD is a Classic or the newer body?

GMC badged the older truck the Classic and sold it alongside the new one for that model year. Dealer listings and valuation guides still carry the Classic name, so the check is quick. If Classic is in the name, the rear bumper here fits and no front bumper does. If it is not, your truck takes the 2007.5-2010 parts at both ends.

Will the Full Guard clear the front camera on a newer Sierra HD?

Yes. Fab Fours lists the 2024 and newer front bumper as compatible with the factory front camera in all three shapes, the Full Guard included. Adaptive cruise is the exception. On a Denali carrying it in the grille, Fab Fours rules the Full Guard out, so that truck goes with the Pre-Runner Guard or the No Guard.

I tow with the truck. Does the rear bumper change my hitch or my wiring?

No. Fab Fours makes every Black Steel rear bumper here to take your factory receiver hitch, and the trailer wiring is left alone. The holes for your back-up sensors are in all five. Blind-spot monitoring is the one thing that does not carry over.
