Three Faces on the Same Bumper

Underneath, there is one bumper here. The plate, the winch mount, the D-ring mounts and the lighting provisions do not change from one to the next. Only the face does, and each face costs you something.

• No Guard. Nothing sits in front of the grille and nothing sits in front of the lights. Nothing is protected up there either.
• Pre-Runner Guard. A single bar on legs stands in front of the grille and stops short of the lights. It is the middle of the 3.
• Full Guard. Steel stands in front of the grille and across both headlights. It is the most protection on this page and the most of the truck's own face covered.

Order by what is actually in front of you. Pavement, a driveway and the odd gravel road, and the No Guard is enough bumper. Two-track, low limbs and wildlife at dusk, and the Full Guard is worth the steel. The Pre-Runner Guard is the pick if what you hit is low and central. It covers the grille, not the corners.

The Full Guard Starts at the 2021 Truck

Fab Fours cuts a separate Matrix for each F150 nose, so your year sets the part number. On this truck it also decides which of the 3 faces you can have.

• 2015-2017. No Guard or Pre-Runner Guard.
• 2018-2020. No Guard or Pre-Runner Guard.
• 2021-2023. All 3, including the Full Guard.

The Full Guard is cut for the 2021 and newer body only. There is no Matrix Full Guard part number for a 2015 through 2020 F150. If your truck is older and you want steel over the headlights, look at what Fab Fours builds on its other lines for those years.

The other end of the range matters too. The 2024 F150 arrived with a different front end, and Fab Fours cut a new part number to match it. This collection does not stock that one yet, so nothing here fits a 2024 or newer truck.

Before You Order, Look at Your Own Front End

The Matrix sits where a lot of the F150's hardware already lives, and 3 things on your truck decide whether you need anything extra.

Adaptive cruise. Only the oldest trucks here need a second part for it. The 2018 and newer bumpers have the cruise module built in. A 2015 through 2017 truck does not, so it takes the M3850-1, a small Fab Fours bracket that moves the radar, sold on its own. You need it only if your truck actually has adaptive cruise. One thing to settle before you order it: that bracket does not work with a chrome grille.

The 360 camera. All of these accommodate the factory 360 camera. Fab Fours attaches one note to that, and it names the Pre-Runner Guard: expect minor camera interference behind the bar. If the camera view is what you use most, the No Guard is the clean answer.

Front parking sensors. On the 2021 and 2022 trucks, Fab Fours lists the Matrix as compatible with the factory front proximity sensors.

Two F150s are out. No bumper here fits a diesel, and the exclusion is on every listing on this page, so it lands on anyone running the 3.0 Power Stroke that Ford sold from 2018 to 2021. A Raptor is out as well. None of these part numbers list it.

The Winch Mount Has a Ceiling

Every bumper here is winch-ready. The ceiling is a Warn Zeon 12, which is a 12,000 pound winch, and anything under that is fine. Buy with that number in mind. Running a Warn also means a second part: the control box has to move, and Warn sells a relocation kit for it. The right kit depends on which winch you own, and each listing names them.

Lighting works the same way. The center mount takes a single-row 30-inch light bar. A double-row bar goes there only on a truck running no winch at all. The side slots and the removable inserts handle cube lights and color changes.

Install is bolt-on at the factory mounts, with the hardware kit and the instructions in the box. Set aside 3 to 5 hours and line up a second person. It also arrives by freight, so have somewhere to put the crate.
