What Fits Your Ram 1500, and What Does Not

The Ram 1500 makes you check two things first: your body and your trim.

The body. Fab Fours splits the Vengeance by the truck's front end. The 2013-2018 Ram takes one front bumper. The redesigned 2019-2024 Ram takes another. The catch is the Ram 1500 Classic. Ram kept building the old body and sold it as the Classic, right next to the new truck, from 2019 on. A Classic takes the 2013-2018 front, not the 2019-2024 one. Go by the body, not the model year.

The rear. Out back, the Vengeance reaches further. The rear bumper covers the Ram from 2009 through 2024. So an early 2009-2012 truck can wear a Vengeance rear, even though the front bumper starts at 2013.

The trim. The front bumper fits the standard Ram. On any year, it leaves out the Rebel, which has its own off-road front. It also skips the Express and Sport trims. On the 2019 and newer trucks, add the TRX, the Warlock, and the EcoDiesel to that list. Run one of those, and the front will not bolt up. The rear bumper is far less picky and fits across the line.

Two Front Bumpers, Clean or Pre-Runner

Once the year and trim line up, the front bumper comes one of two ways. Both are the same 11-gauge steel under a black powder coat. Eleven-gauge is about 0.12 inch of steel, and a lower gauge number means a heavier plate.

Clean. The open front bumper is a low bar with no hoop. It shows off the close, low fit and keeps the front end simple. It weighs about 125 pounds. When you want the bare, modern face and the lighter of the two, the open front bumper is it.

Pre-runner. The pre-runner front bumper adds a raised hoop across the center, the look of a truck set up to run the desert. It holds more lights and weighs about 150 pounds, a little more money than the open front. When you want the desert-truck stance and more lights, step up to the pre-runner.

Both fronts take plenty of lights. The center holds a 20-inch bar, and cube lights mount on each end, all sold separately. No Vengeance front carries a winch. A winch belongs on one of Fab Fours' heavier lines.

Matching a Rear Bumper to Your Ram

The rear bumper covers more of the Ram's run than the front does. One version fits the 2009-2018 trucks. Another fits the 2019-2024 trucks. Both reuse the factory trailer hitch and its wiring, so you can still tow. Each side fits a 6-inch bar or a set of cube lights, sold separately. Both weigh about 150 pounds.

One limit sits on the older rear bumper. On the 2009-2018 Ram, the Vengeance rear does not make room for a factory bumper-mounted backup camera. If your Ram reads its camera through the bumper, you lose that view. The rear, like the front, is cut for the factory parking sensors. The sensor brackets come set for lifted rigs, so on a stock-height Ram, plan to readjust them.
