How to Choose a Ford Excursion Bumper
Use case anchors the choice. A family hauler, a deer-country rig, and a tow rig each take a different front.
Highway miles and family duty. Ranch Hand builds the Legend Bullnose for this. Bullnose is a setup, not a separate series. It adds a center-grille bar and skips the full wraparound guard. Sightlines and clearance stay near stock. Hammerhead counters with a Low Profile front that hugs the body line. Frontier's Original front holds the same clean face in handcrafted steel.
Deer country and back-road runs. Where deer cross at dusk, a wraparound guard takes the hit first. The Ranch Hand Legend Grille Guard shields the grille and headlights. It uses schedule-40 pipe, the heavy-wall kind, over a diamond-plate face. Hammerhead pairs a Full Brush Guard with a winch-ready front, so one part covers brush and recovery. Frontier builds a grille guard for each year split.
Tow rigs and winch builds. The Excursion is rated to pull 11,000 pounds. Sport is the Ranch Hand series that takes a winch, and the Excursion fit is rated to 15K. Hammerhead's Pre-Runner front takes one too. It bolts on with no cutting, welding, or drilling. The factory tow hooks stay.
Those three cover this SUV front to back. Only Hammerhead builds the rear, in a standard step and a Flush Mount. Beyond the core three we also stock Road Armor. Every bumper here bolts to factory frame mounts. The brand logos below open each maker's full Ford Excursion bumper page.
What Fits Across Ford Excursion Generations
The Excursion ran one generation only, from model year 2000 through 2005. It uses the first F250 Super Duty chassis and shares its frame and front structure with the long-bed F250. That overlap shows up in Ford F250 and F350 Super Duty bumper fitment.
The line that matters is 2005. For its last year the Excursion took the restyled Super Duty front end: grille, header panel, headlights, and bumper. A 2000-2004 front will not bolt to a 2005, and the reverse holds. That is why Ranch Hand Ford Excursion bumpers and Hammerhead Ford Excursion bumpers each list two front part numbers.
The rear is simpler. Sheet metal behind the front doors carried over untouched. One rear bumper covers 2000 through 2005.
The Reverse Sensing System was an option here, not standard. Where it was ordered, the sensors sit in the rear bumper face. Check that the bumper keeps the cutouts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Ford Excursion bumpers fit across all model years?
Rear bumpers do. The rear body never changed, so one rear covers 2000 through 2005. Fronts do not. The 2005 wears the restyled Super Duty front end. That puts fronts in two groups: 2000-2004 and 2005. Read the fitment years first.
Are 2000-2004 and 2005 Ford Excursion front bumpers interchangeable?
No. For 2005 Ford fitted the restyled Super Duty grille, header panel, headlights, and bumper. The mounting points moved with them. A 2005 front shares fitment with 2005-2007 F250 and F350 Super Duty trucks instead. Ranch Hand, Hammerhead, and Frontier each build both.
Which brands make bumpers for the Ford Excursion?
Ranch Hand, Hammerhead, and Frontier anchor our Ford Excursion bumper catalog. Ranch Hand runs Legend, Legend Bullnose, and the winch-ready Sport. Hammerhead covers Low Profile, Pre-Runner, and Full Brush Guard fronts, plus both rears. Frontier brings Original and Xtreme. We also stock Road Armor.
How do I tell whether my Ford Excursion is a 2005?
Look at the front end. A 2005 wears the restyled Super Duty grille, header panel, and headlights. A 2000-2004 wears the original. Confirm with the model year on the door-jamb label or the VIN. Front bumper fitment turns on that answer.
