The Original Front Bumper, Cut for Every Silverado Since 1999

The Original is Frontier's full front bumper, a one-piece diamond-plate replacement for the stock steel. Frontier Truck Gear got its start in Texas in 2001.

No other front here spans all seven Silverado front ends, from the 1999 trucks to the newest body. On the trucks up to 2021, it keeps the factory tow hooks and fog lights. Weight climbs with the truck, from about 180 pounds on the older bodies to 215 on the newest.

The newest front changes in one way that matters. On the refreshed 2022 and later trucks, the Original no longer keeps the tow hooks. It also will not fit a Super Cruise or ZR2 truck. More on that below. Where the other two fronts skip a year, the Original does not.

Two Lighter Fronts: the Xtreme and the 2016-2018 Sport

Not every owner wants the full diamond-plate front. Two lighter fronts sit beside the Original.

The Xtreme is the open one. It drops the full face for contoured upper loops. That cuts weight and shows more of the truck. The 2007 to 2013 Xtreme weighs about 142 pounds, well under the Original. It is also the only Frontier front here that lists a steel thickness: 11-gauge steel with a thicker 3/16-inch center (lower gauge, thicker steel). The Xtreme runs from 2003 through 2020 in this collection. The oldest 1999 to 2002 bodies and the refreshed 2022 trucks are not in that run. One trade-off comes with it. The 2003 through 2018 Xtreme does not accommodate the factory park assist sensors. The 2019 to 2020 Xtreme does, and it keeps the factory camera.

The Sport covers one window here, the 2016 to 2018 trucks. Frontier builds it with a top bar, a center winch mount, and cutouts for LED cube lights, and it takes a 20-inch light bar. If your truck is a 2016 to 2018 and you want a winch mount up front, open the Sport listing first.

The Diamond Rear Bumper, 1999 to 2020

The Diamond rear wears the same diamond-plate steel as the Original front. From 2007 on it keeps the factory parking sensors. The 1999 to 2006 rear does not. The 2014 and newer rears add a corner assist step on each side and leave the factory hitch reachable. Backup lights vary by part number, so read the listing: some include LED units, others sell the lights on their own. Weight is light for a rear, around 90 to 95 pounds.

The Diamond rear covers 1999 through 2020 in this collection. It stops there. For a 2021 or newer Silverado, the rear is not here yet. The Original front and the grille guard both cover those newest trucks.

The Bolt-On Grille Guard, and What the Newest Trucks Change

Not every build needs a full replacement. Frontier's grille guard wraps the front and mounts to the frame. You keep the factory bumper and add protection over it. The guard covers the Silverado from 1999 through the newest trucks, and weight runs from about 111 to 128 pounds. Two notes come with it. The 1999 to 2002 and 2007 to 2013 guards need the factory bumper drilled; the 2014 and newer guards bolt on with no drilling. And from 2014 on, the guard will not accommodate the factory parking sensors. If your truck has front sensors and you want to keep them, the Original front is the way.

The newest Silverado trucks, the refreshed 2022 and later, carry more up front. Two limits apply to both the Original front and the grille guard. Neither fits a truck with Super Cruise, GM's hands-free driver aid. Neither fits the off-road ZR2. Both work with standard adaptive cruise. On a 2022 or newer truck, confirm your trim first.
