Which front you want comes down to the year GMC built your truck. Here is how the lineup splits.

2007.5 to 2013. These trucks take the Summit front. It is built from diamond-plate steel and a 4-inch steel pipe. The finish is black powder coat, and the whole bar is welded as one piece. It is a full-face front that wraps the headlights for corner protection, with no grille guard. The bumper bolts on with the included kit, and the factory tow hooks come off and go back on during the job. At about 214 pounds it ships by freight, and a second set of hands helps.

2014 to 2018. The Summit carries these years too, at around 200 pounds. GMC freshened the front end in 2016, so the 2016 to 2018 trucks use their own version of the bar. Either one mounts the same as the earlier Summit. On a truck with adaptive cruise, the radar module shifts to a bracket that comes with the bumper. One limit: the Summit will not clear a body lift, so a lifted truck needs a different front.

2019 to 2021. This is the one window with no Summit. For these trucks Ranch Hand makes the Midnight front instead, and it comes with a grille guard built in. The steel is 7-gauge, and with steel a lower gauge number means thicker metal. It keeps the front parking sensors and the factory fog lights, and removable inserts leave room for the factory camera. There is even a slot for a light bar. It does not keep the factory tow hooks. Most owners bolt it on at home in about three to five hours. At roughly 208 pounds it is the priciest front here.

2022 and newer. The Summit returns for the newest Sierras, bigger and heavier at about 239 pounds, the heaviest front in the lineup. Read the fit notes for your truck first. This bar does not fit a Sierra with adaptive cruise or Super Cruise, the hands-free highway system on loaded trucks. It also does not fit the off-road AT4X.

One Sport rear, 2007.5 through 2026

The rear is the easy part. The Sport bumper covers the Sierra 1500 from 2007.5 all the way to 2026. It is formed from 3/16-inch C-channel and diamond-plate steel, with a step built in for climbing into the bed. It holds the factory receiver hitch and the rear parking sensors, and it carries its own lights. At about 95 pounds it is far lighter than the fronts, and one person can usually handle it. On 2019 and newer trucks, the Sport rear fits dual exhaust only. For 2019 to 2021 there is also a blacked-out Midnight rear in 7-gauge steel, with recovery shackles and angled corners for clearance.
