Grille guard or no grille guard
Ranch Hand offers the Tacoma Midnight in two builds. Choosing between them is the only real decision here.
The grille-guard build wraps a steel tube cage over the grille. It weighs about 167 pounds. The brush bars catch limbs, brush, and low-speed hits before they reach your sheet metal. Pick it if you run back roads, work fence lines, or just want the meaner front end.
The no-guard build drops the cage. Underneath, it is the same bumper, about 124 pounds, with a low and clean face. Pick it for the blackout look without the cage. There is also a fitment reason to choose it. Only the no-guard build keeps the Tacoma's front camera and adaptive cruise control. The grille-guard build does not. If your Tacoma has radar cruise and you want to keep it, go without the guard.
What it keeps, what you can add
Both builds keep the factory front parking sensors. The center inserts come pre-drilled for them, and the inserts pull out if you change the setup later. Your factory tow hooks stay. Your factory fog lights stay too, or you can run two LED pods per side instead.
Room for a light bar? The center slot takes one. On a Tacoma without front sensors, it fits a 32-inch bar. On a sensor-equipped truck, it fits a 26-inch bar, because the sensors need the space. There is no front receiver hitch on this bumper. It is a front protection bumper, not a hitch mount.
Which Tacoma years it fits
Both builds fit the 2016 through 2023 Toyota Tacoma. That is the whole third generation, from the 2016 redesign to the final 2023 trucks. There are no year gaps, and no separate part for early or late trucks. One bumper covers the run.
It does not fit the second-generation Tacoma sold from 2005 to 2015. It does not fit the 2024 and newer Tacoma either, which Toyota moved to a new platform. Those trucks take a different bumper.
The body is welded from 7-gauge steel on 1/4-inch mounting brackets, and Ranch Hand makes it in Texas. On steel, a smaller gauge number means thicker plate, so the 7-gauge body runs heavier than the tube cage. It bolts on with the included hardware. Frequently Asked Questions
Will this Ranch Hand bumper fit my 2024 Tacoma?
No. Ranch Hand's Tacoma Midnight fits the 2016 through 2023 third-generation Tacoma. Toyota redesigned the Tacoma for 2024 on a new platform, so the 2024 and newer trucks take a different bumper. The older 2005 to 2015 Tacoma is not covered either.
Will it work with my Tacoma's adaptive cruise control?
It depends on the build. The Midnight without the grille guard keeps the Tacoma's front camera and adaptive cruise control. The grille-guard build does not. If you want to keep radar cruise, order the version without the guard.
Does Ranch Hand make a rear bumper for the Tacoma?
No. For the Tacoma, Ranch Hand builds only the Midnight front bumper, with or without the grille guard. There is no Ranch Hand rear bumper for this truck. For rear protection, look at the other brands listed on the Tacoma bumpers page.
