Match the Front to the Hardware You Need

Three front series fit this truck, and two of them come in a second form. The fastest way to choose is by the hardware each one puts on the nose.

A receiver hitch. Every HD Replacement front carries one, from the 2003 trucks through the current HD. Slide in a hitch step or a winch cradle, then pull it out when the job ends. The guard above it is thick pipe over a diamond-plate base, with a mesh screen across the grille. These are the heaviest fronts here. The 2003-2019 parts run 392 to 396 pounds, and the 2020 and newer parts trim that to about 306 to 310. Pick the HD Replacement when the truck is a tool first and you want gear riding on the nose.

A fixed winch. On 2020 and newer trucks, the HD Replacement also comes in a winch-ready version. It keeps the receiver and the pipe guard and adds a winch mount behind the center plate. There is no winch front for the older HD trucks here. For those years, recovery gear hangs on the receiver or on the Fortis shackle mounts.

An open face. One front bumper skips the guard: the Fortis. The bumper is 6-gauge steel, and gauge counts down, so 6 is thick plate. You get D-ring mounts for recovery shackles, a slot for a 20-inch light bar, and pedestals for four small cube lights. It costs the least of any front here. The Fortis is the call when bars over the grille are not your look and shackle points plus lights are enough.

Just the guard. The HD Elevation is a front bumper with a full grille guard, welded as one piece in smooth plate steel, with a punched mesh screen and bars around the headlights. No receiver, no winch tray, just coverage and a 20-inch light-bar slot. It keeps your factory tow hooks and fog lights, and the steel version runs 253 to 308 pounds depending on the year. Choose the Elevation when you want the front end shielded and nothing extra bolted on.

The same bumper in aluminum. From 2011 through 2023, the Elevation also comes in aluminum, at 134 to 161 pounds against 253 to 308 for the steel one. It costs the most of any front here, and the payoff lands on the front axle and in the salt belt, where aluminum holds up after steel starts to rot. Adaptive cruise and the emblem camera still work behind it. Go aluminum when the truck lives on salted roads or the scale matters to you.

Two notes for daily driving. The steel fronts leave room for the factory parking sensors, though Steelcraft stops short of promising they read like stock, since the new shape differs from the original bumper. On 2020 and newer trucks, the fronts with grille guards add a removable panel over the bowtie, so the emblem camera keeps its view. And where the fit notes name trims, they read the same way: all models, Z71 and the diesels included.

The Rears: Steps, Shackles, or Plain Steel

Steelcraft starts its Silverado HD rear bumpers at 2011, and there is no rear for the older trucks. From 2011 on you get three, priced close together, so the pick comes down to one feature each.

Bed steps. The HD Elevation rear builds a corner step into each end, for climbing into the bed without the tailgate down. That structure makes it the heaviest rear Steelcraft lists for this truck, about 247 to 253 pounds by year. The steps matter if you climb in and out of the bed all day.

Shackle points. The Fortis rear runs 6-gauge steel with D-ring mounts and pedestals for cube reverse lights. The 2011-2019 part is also listed for the GMC Sierra HD, so a mixed Chevy and GMC yard can stock one rear. Take it if recovery points belong on both ends of your truck.

Light and simple. The HD rear is the plain one, thick steel pipe and a clean face. The 2020-2026 part weighs about 79 pounds, the lightest rear here, and it leaves room for the parking and blind-spot sensors. On this one, the power step in the multi-function tailgate can interfere, so plan on using the tailgate the old way. Order the HD rear if you want the factory chrome gone and nothing else changed.

All three rears fit around the factory trailer hitch, so towing stays untouched. Read the 2020-2026 notes before ordering, though. Trucks with Super Cruise, GM's hands-free driving system, are excluded from 2022 on across all three. And if your truck has dual exhaust tips, they come off with the factory bumper.

The Older the HD, the Shorter the List

Steelcraft cuts new parts at each body change, so the year decides the menu. The newest trucks see the longest list. Work backward from there.

2024-2026. Fortis, steel Elevation, HD Replacement, and the winch-ready front. No aluminum for these years. All three rears.

2020-2023. The widest spread of any era: every front series including the winch-ready and the aluminum Elevation, plus all three rears.

2015-2019. Fortis, Elevation in steel or aluminum, and HD Replacement. No winch front in this era. All three rears.

2011-2014. The same spread as the 2015-2019 trucks, with its own part numbers. The rears begin here.

2007-2010. One front: the HD Replacement with its receiver. It fits the redesigned 2007 body. The 2007 Classic, the old body sold next to it that year, is left out. No rear.

2003-2006. One front again, the HD Replacement. No rear. That single part keeps a twenty-year-old work truck in new steel.
