Updated May 2026. Fitment data verified against supplier listings.
Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD share one platform and seven distinct fitment cohorts between 1999 and 2026. We carry steel, off-road, and grille-guard fronts and rears from Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead, Frontier, Addictive Desert Designs, Westin, Steelcraft, and Warn across every gen in the lineup, and we ship GM HD bumpers every business day. This guide walks you through each year range, explains the twin-make rule, and points you to the right collection. Jump to your year below.

Pre-1999 sidebar. Chevy 2500/3500 and GMC 2500/3500 trucks existed before the Silverado HD and Sierra HD nameplates launched in 2001. The GMT400 era covers 1988-1998 Chevy 2500/3500 bumpers and 1991-1998 GMC Sierra 2500/3500 bumpers. Those are a different bolt pattern and a different audience. Bumpers do not cross into the 1999+ GMT800 era.
Two terms you will see below. Platform codes (GMT800, GMT900, K2HD, T1HD) are GM's internal engineering names. We use them so you can match parts catalogs and forum posts that talk about the chassis instead of the badge. CANBUS is the electronic wiring network that the truck uses to talk to factory sensors, cameras, and modules. Both matter for fitment.
The twin-make rule. Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD ride on the same platform every model year from 2001 forward. Most aftermarket fronts and rears list dual fitment because the bumper replaces the entire face, so the grille shape behind it does not matter. The exceptions are SKUs that wrap the bumper around brand-specific grille bezels or headlight clusters. Brands like Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead, Frontier, and Addictive Desert Designs sell most of their HD inventory as dual Chevy + GMC fit. Verify each product page before you order.
Two cutoffs anchor this lineup. The 2007 Classic-vs-New split is the first. Chevy and GMC sold both the outgoing GMT800 (badged "Classic" for 2007) and the new GMT900 in the same model year, so a 2007 Silverado HD Classic uses GMT800 bumpers and a 2007 Silverado HD uses GMT900 bumpers. The second cutoff is the 2024 mid-cycle refresh on T1HD. The platform code did not change, but the front fascia was completely restyled, and front bumpers from 2020-2023 do not bolt to 2024-2026 trucks.
1999-2002 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (1st Gen, GMT800)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 1999-2002 (Silverado HD and Sierra HD nameplates launched 2001) |
| Cross-compat | Within 1999-2002 range only |
| Body | Steel cab, fully-boxed frame |
| Sensors | None |
| Camera | None |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand |
The Silverado HD and Sierra HD nameplates launched for the 2001 model year on the GMT800 platform, one model year after the 1500. The 1999-2000 trucks in this range are 1500-only on GMT800. The 2001-2002 trucks added the 2500HD and 3500 designations with the brand-new Duramax 6.6L LB7 turbodiesel paired with the Allison 1000 5-speed automatic. The frame is a fully-boxed steel ladder design built for tow and payload work.
Bumper fitment across 1999-2002 stays consistent within the range. A 2000 1500 front does not bolt to a 2002 2500HD front because the 2500HD uses a heavier front bracket spaced for the HD frame, but bumpers within the HD set (2001-2002) cross cleanly. Ranch Hand and Fab Fours both carried this era heavily, and Hammerhead steel grille-guard fronts cover the gen well.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- Buyers searching "1999 Silverado HD" or "2000 Silverado HD" land on trucks that did not exist with the HD label. 1999-2000 = 1500 only.
- Pre-2003 GMT800 bumpers do not cross to 2003-2006 because the 2003 facelift restyled the grille and fascia.
- Original chrome OEM fronts on 2001-2002 work trucks are often rust-pitted. Replacement steel from Ranch Hand or Frontier is the most common upgrade path.
- DIY install runs 2-3 hours with two people or a floor jack and stands. Stock bumper weight on this gen is around 60-80 lbs, aftermarket steel runs 110-180 lbs. No CANBUS wiring on this gen, so winch and accessory routing is straightforward.

2003-2006 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (1st Gen Facelift, GMT800)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2003-2006 |
| Cross-compat | Most fronts do not cross with 1999-2002; rears partial. Crosses to 2007 Classic only |
| Body | Steel, restyled grille and fascia for 2003 |
| Sensors | Optional LT/LTZ |
| Camera | None factory |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand |
GM gave the entire GMT800 line a midstream facelift for 2003. The grille, headlights, and front bumper were all restyled across Silverado, Sierra, 1500, and HD. Underneath, the chassis and frame stayed put. The Duramax LB7 carried through 2004 and was replaced by the LLY mid-2004, then by the LBZ for 2006. The LBZ closed out this gen as the last Duramax before DPF emissions hardware arrived, but none of those engine swaps moved the bumper bolt pattern.
Front bumpers from 2003-2006 cross cleanly within the range and also fit the 2007 Silverado HD Classic and 2007 Sierra HD Classic, since those Classic trucks are GMT800 carryovers. They do not fit the 2007 GMT900-based new-body trucks. Ranch Hand grille-guard fronts are the staple of this era for ranch and tow buyers. Fab Fours Black Steel and Frontier Pro Series both list strong coverage. Most aftermarket fronts here are dual Chevy + GMC fit.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- 2003 was the facelift year, so a 2002 front bumper does not bolt to a 2003.
- A 2003-2006 bumper does fit a 2007 Classic but not a 2007 New Body. Check the door VIN tag and look for the "Classic" badge on 2007 trucks.
- LT/LTZ trim park sensors started showing up here. If you have the option, a 2005-2006 LTZ may need rear bumper sensor cutouts, which is supplier-listed per SKU.
- DIY install on this gen averages 2-3 hours, sometimes 4 if a winch is added. Stock bumper weight 60-80 lbs, aftermarket steel 110-180 lbs.

2007-2010 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (2nd Gen, GMT900): The Classic Split Year

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2007-2010 |
| Cross-compat | Within range only. 2007 Classic = GMT800 (see above), not in this range. |
| Body | Steel, all-new cab and front clip for 2007 MY |
| Sensors | Standard LTZ, optional LT |
| Camera | Optional LTZ |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand |
The 2007 model year is the messiest in the entire Silverado HD timeline, and it is the question buyers ask most often before ordering. GM launched the GMT900 platform in late 2006 as a 2007 model year. For one year only, dealers sold both the outgoing GMT800 (rebadged with the "Classic" suffix) and the new GMT900 side by side. So a 2007 Silverado 2500HD Classic is a GMT800 truck and uses 2003-2006-style bumpers. A 2007 Silverado 2500HD without the Classic label is a GMT900 truck and starts this new fitment cohort. The same Classic split applied to the Sierra HD. Chevrolet's Wikipedia entry documents both production runs that year.
The GMT900 cab was all-new, the front clip was restyled, and the bolt pattern shifted. Bumpers from 2003-2006 do not bolt to a 2007-2010 GMT900 truck. The Duramax LMM took over diesel duty from 2007 through 2010 and brought DPF emissions hardware up front, which sometimes affects clearance on low-cut off-road bumpers. LTZ trims started carrying standard rear park sensors and optional backup cameras, and the CANBUS network expanded to handle the new factory tech. Most aftermarket fronts in this gen still list dual Silverado HD + Sierra HD fitment, with Ranch Hand, Fab Fours Black Steel, and Hammerhead leading the catalog.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- Confirm the truck is not a 2007 Classic before ordering a 2007-2010 GMT900 bumper. The Classic badge sits on the front fender and on the door VIN sticker.
- LTZ buyers with optional camera need to confirm camera-compatible rears. Most modern aftermarket rears now include the cutout, but older inventory may not.
- Front fitment around the new GMT900 grille shape can be brand-specific. Some Frontier and Westin fronts split per Chevy or GMC; most Ranch Hand and Fab Fours fronts are dual-fit.
- DIY install 2-3 hours with two people. Stock bumper weight 70-90 lbs, aftermarket steel 130-200 lbs. CANBUS wiring on LTZ trims means winch and light-bar wiring should route to a fused accessory feed, not direct to battery.

2011-2014 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (2nd Gen Mid-Cycle, GMT900)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2011-2014 |
| Cross-compat | Within range only. Front fascia restyled for 2011, breaks cross-fit to 2007-2010 |
| Body | Steel, restyled grille and front fascia for 2011 |
| Sensors | Standard LTZ+, optional LT |
| Camera | Standard LTZ, optional LT |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand |
For 2011, GM refreshed the GMT900 HD line midstream. The platform code did not change, but the grille and front fascia were restyled, the chassis got new front cradle hardware, and the powertrain swap was the headline. The Duramax LMM was replaced by the LML (Duramax 6.6L V8, GM's diesel paired with the Allison 1000 6-speed automatic), and that combination ran through 2014. The Sierra HD Denali (top GMC trim, launched 2011) debuted in this run with chrome-heavy front bezels.
Front bumpers from 2007-2010 do not bolt cleanly to 2011-2014 trucks because the front clip fascia was restyled. Rear bumpers mostly carry over since the bed and frame stayed put, but verify per SKU. Most aftermarket fronts in this range list dual Silverado HD + Sierra HD fitment, but Denali HD's chrome front bezel sometimes affects how a steel-wrap bumper sits around the grille, so check the SKU notes on grille-guard styles. Ranch Hand and Fab Fours Black Steel both have strong coverage. ADD started showing up on this gen for desert-style fronts.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- 2010-vs-2011 is a front bumper break inside the same generation. Buyers ordering for a 2011+ truck need a 2011-2014 SKU, not a 2007-2010 SKU.
- LML Duramax air-dam clearance is tighter than the LMM. Confirm clearance on low-cut off-road bumpers, especially aftermarket front skid-plate combos.
- Denali HD chrome bezel may need confirmation on grille-wrap front styles. Most flat-face replacement fronts fit without issue.
- DIY install 2-3 hours. Stock bumper 70-90 lbs, aftermarket steel 130-200 lbs. CANBUS handling is standard from this gen forward, route accessories through a fused feed.

2015-2019 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (3rd Gen, K2HD)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2015-2019 |
| Cross-compat | Within range only. K2HD platform, separate from K2XX 1500 |
| Body | Steel cab, all-new front clip and platform for 2015 |
| Sensors | Standard LTZ+/SLT+, optional LT/SLE |
| Camera | Standard LTZ+/SLT+ |
| Top brand in stock | Fab Fours |
K2HD ran five model years on one front clip, so the bumper catalog for this cohort runs deep. GM launched the K2HD platform for the 2015 model year, one model year after the K2XX 1500. The cab was redesigned, the front clip was completely new, and the bolt pattern shifted from GMT900. The Duramax LML carried into 2016 and was replaced by the L5P for the 2017 model year, bumping output to 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. The Allison 1000 6-speed automatic stayed paired with the diesel through this run.
Bumpers from 2011-2014 do not bolt to 2015-2019 trucks because the front clip and bracket spacing changed entirely. Within the 2015-2019 range, all five years cross cleanly. There was no mid-cycle break that affected bumper mounting in this gen. The High Country trim launched on Silverado HD with this generation in 2015, and SLT and Denali HD on Sierra HD remained the top GMC trims with chrome accent fronts. Fab Fours runs the widest line-up this gen across Black Steel, Black Steel Elite, Matrix, and Vengeance, all dual Chevy + GMC fit. Ranch Hand, Hammerhead, and Frontier all carry strong coverage. ADD has full lineup support for off-road styles. Suppliers verify K2HD fitment data against current manufacturer specs before listing SKUs, and we relist directly from those feeds.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- 2014-vs-2015 is a hard platform break. Buyers ordering for 2015+ need K2HD SKUs, not GMT900 SKUs.
- L5P trucks (2017+) have slightly tighter front air-dam clearance than LML trucks. Check off-road front skid-plate combos.
- CANBUS handling is heavier in this gen. Front parking sensors on LTZ/SLT trims need either a transfer to the new bumper or a relocation kit. Most aftermarket fronts include both options.
- DIY install 2-3 hours. Stock bumper 80-100 lbs, aftermarket steel 140-220 lbs. Two people or a floor jack and stands. Sensor and camera relocation adds 30-60 minutes if your trim has them.

2020-2023 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (4th Gen, T1HD)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2020-2023 |
| Cross-compat | Within range only. T1HD platform |
| Body | Steel, all-new cab and front clip for 2020 |
| Sensors | Standard most trims |
| Camera | Standard all (FMVSS 111 May 2018 applies sub-10K GVWR) |
| Top brand in stock | Fab Fours |
The T1HD platform launched for the 2020 model year, one year after the T1XX 1500 went live in 2019. The 2019 HD trucks were K2HD carryovers, so the real cutoff sits between 2019 and 2020 for HD bumper fitment. GM redesigned the cab, dropped a much larger front clip with vertical grille bars, and added the Sierra AT4 trim as the GMC off-road flagship. Sierra Denali HD continued at the top of the Sierra range. Silverado HD trims spanned WT, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country.
Front bumpers from 2015-2019 do not cross to 2020-2023 because the bolt pattern and bracket spacing changed entirely. Inside 2020-2023, all four years interchange cleanly. The Duramax L5P held output at 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft through this run, paired with the Allison 1000 6-speed. Federal regulation 49 CFR 571.111, which set the May 1, 2018 backup-camera mandate, applies to vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). Silverado 2500HD SRW (single rear wheel) configs sit right at that cutoff. 3500HD DRW (dual rear wheel) trucks exceed it, but cameras ship from the factory on every modern HD trim regardless.
CANBUS handling on T1HD is heavier than K2HD. Front parking sensors are standard on most trims, and the AT4 includes off-road camera views routed through the front bumper. Fab Fours has the widest catalog here across multiple series. ADD builds for desert and trail off-road. Ranch Hand covers work-truck steel fronts. Most aftermarket fronts list dual Silverado HD + Sierra HD fitment.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- 2019-vs-2020 is a clean platform break. 2019 trucks are K2HD; 2020+ are T1HD. Match the truck to the SKU.
- AT4 and Denali HD trims may have additional grille-area sensors that need transfer or relocation. Confirm sensor count on the truck before ordering.
- Some 2020 trucks shipped with first-year T1HD wiring quirks that affect sensor relocation. Aftermarket fronts include adapters where needed.
- DIY install 2.5-3.5 hours. Stock bumper 80-100 lbs, aftermarket steel 150-220 lbs. Two people or a floor jack. CANBUS routing through a fused accessory feed is standard from this gen forward.

2024-2026 Silverado HD + Sierra HD (4th Gen Refresh, T1HD)

| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Years covered | 2024-2026 |
| Cross-compat | Within range only. T1HD platform retained, front fascia restyled |
| Body | Steel, restyled front fascia and bumper face for 2024 mid-cycle refresh |
| Sensors | Standard all trims |
| Camera | Standard all |
| Top brand in stock | Fab Fours |
GM refreshed the T1HD line mid-cycle for the 2024 model year, and this is the canonical buyer-relevance break right now. The platform code did not change. The cab and frame carried over. But the front fascia was restyled head to toe with C-shaped LED headlights, a new grille face, and a completely new front bumper face. Front bumpers from 2020-2023 do not bolt to 2024-2026 trucks. Rear bumpers mostly carry over since the bed and rear frame stayed put, but verify per SKU. Chevy's current Silverado HD page documents the 2024 refresh trims and powertrain.
The 2024 refresh also bumped the Duramax L5P up to 470 horsepower and 975 lb-ft of torque thanks to a new turbocharger, updated controller, and revised piston design. The Allison 10-speed automatic became standard across all engine options, replacing the older 6-speed on diesel trims. Inside the cab, a 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch driver display took over the dash, and Silverado HD added the ZR2 off-road trim with locking diffs, skid plates, and a factory-styled front bumper. Sierra HD added Denali Ultimate as the new top trim. Fab Fours, Ranch Hand, Addictive Desert Designs, and Hammerhead all have 2024-2026 SKUs in the catalog now and most fronts list dual Chevy + GMC fit.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- 2023-vs-2024 is a front bumper break inside the same T1HD platform. The fascia restyle is the cutoff. Buyers must order 2024-2026 SKUs for 2024+ trucks.
- ZR2 buyers should confirm whether the steel front replaces the factory ZR2 bumper face cleanly. Most do; check the SKU notes.
- Front sensor and camera count on 2024+ trucks is heavier than 2020-2023. Sensor transfer or relocation kits are standard in aftermarket inventory.
- DIY install 2.5-3.5 hours. Stock bumper 90-110 lbs, aftermarket steel 150-230 lbs. Two people or a floor jack. Sensor and camera relocation runs 45-75 minutes on this gen due to higher count.

The supplier sensor and camera data above is pulled from manufacturer specifications and confirmed against our active SKU inventory. The 10,000 lbs GVWR cutoff under federal rule 49 CFR 571.111 sits right at the Silverado 2500HD and Sierra 2500HD SRW base configs, which technically may fall under the mandate. 3500HD DRW and dual-rear-wheel chassis configs exceed the threshold and are not subject to the rule, but factory cameras still ship on most modern HD trims regardless of class.
Common Silverado HD + Sierra HD Fitment Mistakes
-
Ordering a 2007 GMT900 bumper for a 2007 Classic truck, or vice versa. The Classic suffix marks a GMT800 carryover, and the bolt pattern is from the prior generation. Check the door VIN sticker and the front fender badge before you order.
-
Treating the 2024 refresh as a continuation of 2020-2023 fitment. The T1HD platform stayed, but the front fascia is new, and front bumpers from 2020-2023 do not bolt to 2024-2026 trucks.
-
Assuming Silverado HD and Sierra HD fitment splits per badge. Almost every aftermarket front and rear is dual Chevy + GMC fit because the bumper replaces the entire face. The exceptions are grille-bezel-integrated SKUs, which are flagged on the product page.
-
Confusing the 1500 K2XX cutoff (2014 model year) with the K2HD HD cutoff (2015 model year). The HD trucks ran one extra model year on GMT900 (2014) before K2HD launched in 2015. A 2014 Silverado 2500HD is GMT900, not K2HD.
-
Mixing Duramax engine years with bumper fitment breaks. The Duramax went LB7 to LLY to LBZ to LMM to LML to L5P across these 25 years, but the engine swap happens behind the front clip. None of those diesel transitions move the bumper bolt pattern. Match the truck year to the platform cohort first, then think about powertrain.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Silverado HD and Sierra HD bumpers the same?
Yes for most aftermarket SKUs. Chevy Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD share the same platform across all generations from 2001 forward, and the bumper replaces the entire front or rear face on most fitments. Brands like Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead, Frontier, and Addictive Desert Designs sell most of their HD inventory as dual Chevy + GMC fit. The exceptions are SKUs that wrap around brand-specific grille bezels or headlight clusters, which are flagged on the product page.
What is the difference between a 2007 Silverado HD Classic and a 2007 Silverado HD?
The 2007 Silverado HD Classic is a GMT800 truck carried over from the prior generation. The 2007 Silverado HD without the Classic label is the new GMT900 model. GM sold both side by side for one model year only during the transition. The Classic uses 2003-2006-style bumpers (GMT800 fitment). The new GMT900 uses 2007-2010 bumpers. The same Classic split applied to the 2007 Sierra HD. Check the door VIN sticker and the front fender badge before ordering.
Will a 2023 Silverado HD bumper fit a 2024?
No on most fronts. GM did a mid-cycle refresh on the T1HD platform for 2024 and restyled the entire front fascia. A 2023 front bumper does not bolt to a 2024 truck. Rear bumpers mostly carry over since the bed and rear frame stayed put, but verify per SKU. The platform code (T1HD) is the same for both, but the front clip is new on 2024+.
Are Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD bumpers the same?
Most front bumpers cross between 2500HD and 3500HD on the same gen because both use the same front clip. Some rear bumpers split based on bed configuration, especially between SRW and DRW (single rear wheel vs dual rear wheel) trucks. Check the product page for SRW/DRW notes on rears.
Will a 2010 Silverado HD bumper fit a 2011?
No on most fronts. GM did a mid-cycle refresh on the GMT900 HD line for 2011 with a new grille and front fascia. Front bumpers from 2007-2010 do not cross to 2011-2014. Rear bumpers mostly cross, but verify per SKU. The platform code (GMT900) stayed, but the front clip restyle broke front bumper compatibility.
Will a 2014 Silverado HD bumper fit a 2015?
No. GM launched the K2HD platform for the 2015 model year, one model year after the K2XX 1500. The bolt pattern, front clip, and bracket spacing all changed. A 2014 GMT900 bumper does not bolt to a 2015 K2HD truck.
Does the ZR2 or AT4 trim affect HD bumper fitment?
The ZR2 (Silverado HD off-road trim, launched 2024) and AT4 (Sierra HD off-road trim, launched 2020) ride on the same platform as the standard trims. Most aftermarket fronts that replace the entire face will fit. Factory ZR2 and AT4 bumper accessories like sensor-routed grille cameras may need removal or relocation, and some grille-area sensors transfer to the new bumper via supplier-included kits. Check the SKU notes for trim-specific cutouts.
Do I need a camera-compatible bumper for my Silverado HD or Sierra HD?
If your truck is from 2007 LTZ+ or any 2011+ LTZ/SLT and above, yes, you need a rear bumper with a camera cutout or an OEM relocation kit. Factory backup cameras have been standard on most HD trims since 2015. The federal mandate took effect May 1, 2018, for vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR. Most aftermarket rears in our active catalog now include the camera cutout, but older inventory may not. Verify per product page.
