Ford F150 Trim Levels: Which Steel Bumper Fits Yours

Black Ford F150 with a Ranch Hand steel front bumper in a warehouse

Updated November 2026. Sources: Ford's website and owner's manuals, the bumper makers and our listings. Anything in quotes is word for word.

On almost every F150, the steel bumper that fits is the one built for your truck's year. A steel bumper can't tell cloth seats from leather.

Ford sells the 2027 F150 in 8 trims, from an XL starting at $40,155 to a Raptor starting at $75,325. Only 2 trims change the bumper: the Raptor, and the Tremor from 2024 on. The Raptor takes its own, and some bumpers don't fit the newer Tremor. The Platinum and King Ranch need one more check. On a truck with adaptive cruise, a sensor you can't see matters more than the trim name.

That sensor is a radar, and it runs adaptive cruise, the cruise control that keeps a set distance behind the vehicle ahead. On trucks that have it, Ford's emergency braking uses it too. On a 2021 or newer F150 it hides behind a panel in the lower grille, where a steel bumper bolts on. Ford's manual says: "You cannot see the sensor." So the real question is whether your truck has adaptive cruise, and whether the bumper keeps the radar working.

Any F150 with adaptive cruise: the listing must say cruise keeps working.

Our non-Raptor F150 front bumpers for 2015 and newer fit the XL, STX, XLT, Lariat and the old Limited alike.

Buying a 2027? Our bumper listings still stop at 2026. Ford gave the 2027 XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum new grilles. No listing says yet whether that changes the fit, so ask us before you order.

Most F150s: Your Year Picks the Bumper, the Radar Picks the Rest

Most of our F150 front bumpers come in 2015-2017, 2018-2020, 2021-2023 or 2024-2026 versions. Pick yours, then check adaptive cruise and the 4-item checklist further down.

A bumper or light over the radar can make it see worse. Ford's manuals warn about "Vehicle front protectors, aftermarket lights, additional paint or plastic coatings" there. Ford's emergency braking "depends on the detection ability of its camera and sensors", so this is about safety, not just cruise. Trucks from 2015 to 2020 with adaptive cruise have the radar up front too, and makers sell brackets to move it.

So the bumper has to make room for the radar. After the install, have a Ford dealer check it.

What the listing says about cruise

Keeps cruise, no extra part

"Supports Adaptive Cruise Control (will replace driverside tow hook)" (Steelcraft, 2021-2026)

Steelcraft's install guide says to leave the driver-side tow hook off on trucks with the radar.

Keeps cruise with a separate bracket

"Requires Adaptive Cruise Control relocation bracket for adaptive cruise control equipped vehicles." (ADD, 2021-2023)

The bracket moves the radar. ADD prices it at about $300, so budget for it.

Made for trucks without it

"This bumper is not compatible with Adaptive Cruise Control." (Hammerhead, 2021-2023)

Says nothing about cruise

Not a yes. Treat it as a no.

Not sure your truck has it? Check your steering wheel: adaptive cruise adds a button that sets your following distance. Ford's manual says it cycles "through the four gap settings" and shows them as bars on the dash. No distance button means no adaptive cruise.

Got BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free highway driving? Fab Fours says 1 of its F150 bumpers keeps adaptive cruise but "Will not work with Blue Cruise/Self Driving Technology". No bumper we carry is confirmed for BlueCruise yet, so ask us first.

This April, a 2024 F150 owner with adaptive cruise asked us about a bumper built for 2021-2023. Wrong year, so the answer was no. The right bumper had to fit 2024-2026 first and keep cruise second.

Platinum and King Ranch: A Second Cruise Check

With adaptive cruise on a Platinum or King Ranch, skip bumpers that say cruise won't work on your trim. Several ADD listings say adaptive cruise is "not compatible with Platinum, King Ranch models, or brush nickel finished grilles". ADD's radar bracket says the same, so on these trims ADD's bumpers can't keep cruise. Fab Fours says its radar brackets for 2015-2020 trucks won't work with chrome grilles.

You still have choices. For 2024-2026, Ranch Hand's fit checker shows its Summit fitting both trims. Ranch Hand says it "Retains factory parking sensors, front cameras, fog lights, tow hooks, and ACC", meaning adaptive cruise. Steelcraft's HD bumpers support adaptive cruise, and only the Raptor and the Lightning are off their list.

4 More Things a Steel Bumper Has to Make Room For

Check these on your truck
1

Front parking sensors

Ford puts them in the front bumper.

Look for a listing that says the bumper keeps them.

2

A front camera

The 360 camera's front lens sits in the grille.

Look for a listing that says the camera still sees. Ranch Hand sells its 2021-2023 Summit in a camera version, FSF21HBL1C.

3

A motorized air dam

A panel under the front bumper that a motor moves.

Look for an air dam note. Some Ranch Hand and Steelcraft bumpers say you lose it.

4

Your engine

Some bumpers fit only certain engines.

Read the engine note. An ADD winch bumper for 2021-2023 does not work with the 2.7L, and a Fab Fours bumper won't take the diesel.

Raptor and Raptor R: Shop Only Raptor Bumpers

Raptor owners: buy a steel bumper built for the Raptor and nothing else. Many bumpers made for the regular F150 say they won't fit it. Steelcraft's 2024-2026 HD bumpers read "Excludes Raptor and Lightning". Ranch Hand's fit checker says its Summit won't fit the Raptor.

The Raptor R, the top Raptor with a supercharged V8, takes Raptor bumpers too. Make sure the listing names it. Fab Fours' 2024-2026 Raptor bumper fits the Raptor and Raptor R, but only with the 37-inch tire package.

Black 2021 or newer Ford F150 Raptor with an ADD Phantom front bumper

ADD's Phantom front bumper on a 2021-2026 Raptor. Its listing calls for a bracket that moves the cruise radar.

Our Raptor bumper guide covers every Raptor year, and the Raptor bumpers page shows all we carry.

2024-2026 Tremor: Fewer Bumpers Fit, So Ask Us First

Ranch Hand's own fit checker says its 2024-2026 bumpers don't fit the Tremor, and ADD's bumpers can't keep its cruise. ADD's 2024 radar bracket says adaptive cruise is "not compatible with Tremor". ADD's bumpers need that bracket to keep cruise.

Steelcraft is different. Only the Raptor and the Lightning are off its 2024-2026 HD list, and Steelcraft says those bumpers fit "all models including eco-boost and hybrid". That points to a yes for the Tremor, but no listing we carry says Tremor by name. Ask us before you order, and we'll confirm it with the maker.

The 2021-2023 Tremor is simpler. None of our regular 2021-2023 F150 front bumpers says it can't go on a Tremor. Ranch Hand's fit checker includes it for the Summit. Buy by year, like the other trims.

Quick Answers for F150 Owners

What are the Ford F150 trim levels in order?
For 2027, Ford sells 8, from the lowest starting price up: XL ($40,155), STX ($42,675), XLT ($46,525), Lariat ($57,730), Tremor ($59,975), King Ranch ($66,155), Platinum ($69,130) and Raptor ($75,325). The Raptor R is the top Raptor.

Will a bumper for an XLT fit a Lariat or a Platinum?
Yes, if it's built for the same year. F150 bumpers are sold by year, not by trim. With adaptive cruise, the listing must also say cruise keeps working. On a Platinum or King Ranch, check that cruise works on your trim too.

Is there a steel bumper for the F150 Lightning?
None of the F150 bumpers we carry lists the Lightning as a fit. Steelcraft's 2024-2026 HD bumpers say they don't fit it. For a Lightning, buy only a bumper whose listing names it.

Will a steel bumper make my adaptive cruise stop working?
It can, if the bumper doesn't make room for the radar. Buy one whose listing says cruise keeps working, and have a Ford dealer check the radar after the install. Ford's manual asks for a radar check after any hit to the front end.
