Winch-Ready or Non-Winch: Start Here

The first call is the winch. A winch bumper carries a mounting tray and a fairlead slot. A non-winch bumper skips both. That keeps the face cleaner and the weight lower. Here is how the four sort out.

Non-winch fronts. The Formed Guard, part 600-56-0919, is the lightest at 151 lbs and lists at $1,905.30. The Low-Profile Pre-Runner, part 600-56-0394, adds a pre-runner hoop and weighs 160 lbs. It fits a 20-inch light bar and runs the same $1,905.30. Both bolt on clean with no winch tray. They suit fleet and service trucks that mostly log highway miles.

Winch-ready fronts. The Low-Profile winch bumper, part 600-56-0493, holds a full-size winch, weighs 202 lbs, and lists at $1,934.10. That is under thirty dollars over the non-winch face. Winch capability costs almost nothing here if you skip the guard. The Full Brush Guard, part 600-56-0433, runs $2,573.10 at 220 lbs. It wraps the grille and headlights in tubular steel and fits a 20-inch light bar. It is also the only front here Hammerhead lists as sensor-ready.

All four use 7-gauge steel and a two-stage textured black powder coat. Gauge is steel thickness. A lower number means thicker plate, and 7-gauge is heavy-duty. The Pre-Runner and both winch fronts add frame-mounted shackle points for recovery.

Front Bumper Fitment and the 2019 Cutoff

These fronts fit the 2010-2018 Dodge Ram 4500/5500 chassis cab. They also fit the 2500 and 3500 of those years, because the heavy-duty Ram trucks share a front frame. One fitment spans the whole run. The 2011 redesign sits inside it, so early and late trucks take the same bumper. Trucks built before 2010 use the older body and do not fit.

Most 4500/5500 work trucks left the factory with no front sensors. Some were ordered with front park assist. If yours has it, the Full Brush Guard is the model Hammerhead lists as accommodating the factory front sensors. The other three carry Hammerhead's note that sensor function is not guaranteed. Check what your truck has before you order.

Install is bolt-on to the factory frame locations with hand tools. No cutting, no welding. Plan for the weight. These fronts run 151 to 220 lbs, so use a jack and a second set of hands.
