Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks pull, plow, tow, and run commercial routes for owners who need the front and rear end to take what the rest of the truck takes. Five Ram HD generations span 1994 to 2026, and the catalog is dense in every era because these trucks stay on the road for decades. This guide walks every year, names the two hard fitment breaks, and clears up the Classic question that trips a lot of buyers.
Find your year in the table below. Jump to your generation. You will know what fits before you spend the money.
Work-truck buyers running these trucks ask us about Ram HD fitment all year, and the Classic-or-not question on a 2020 or 2021 Ram 2500 is the recurring one. The brand bench reflects the audience. Ranch Hand anchors the steel work-truck category for HD owners with Texas-built bumpers built for ranch, oil-field, and plow duty. Fab Fours carries the deepest range across the 4th and 5th gen runs. Hammerhead and Frontier round out the steel grille-guard options on the older platforms, and Addictive Desert Designs handles the 5th gen builds where the bumper has to play nice with the modern wiring system.

Which Ram 2500 or 3500 Bumper Fits Your Truck?
Find your year in the table. Bumpers are compatible only within the listed range unless noted.
| Years | Generation | Body / Platform | Compatible With |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1994-2002 | 2nd gen (BR/BE) | Steel body, BR/BE platform | 1994-2002 only |
| 2003-2005 | 3rd gen pre-facelift (DR/DH) | Steel, all-new platform for 2003 | 2003-2005 only |
| 2006-2009 | 3rd gen facelift (DR/DH) | Steel, restyled front fascia, Mega Cab launched | 2006-2009 (most fronts will NOT cross to 2003-2005) |
| 2010-2018 | 4th gen (DJ/D2) | Steel, all-new platform, CANBUS standard | 2010-2018 only |
| 2019-2026 | 5th gen (DD) | Steel cab and bed, all-new for 2019 | 2019-2026 only |
The Classic myth. You will read online that Ram sold a 2500 or 3500 Classic alongside the new body for a few years. That is wrong. The Classic version existed on the Ram 1500 only, where Stellantis kept the old DS body in production from 2019 through 2024 next to the new DT. The Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 did not get a Classic variant. A 2019 Ram 2500 is the 5th gen DD platform. A 2020 Ram 2500 is the 5th gen DD platform. A 2024 Ram 2500 is the 5th gen DD platform. There is no carryover body on the HD line.
Two terms you will see below. Platform codes like BR/BE, DR/DH, DJ/D2, and DD are Ram's internal engineering names for each truck generation. We use them so you can match parts catalogs and OEM listings without guessing. CANBUS is the electronic wiring network that lets your modern truck's electronics talk to each other, including the bumper accessory circuit. Some aftermarket bumpers for 2010 and newer Ram HD trucks need a CANBUS adapter to plug in auxiliary lights without triggering dashboard error codes. You do not need to know your platform code to shop. Find your year in the table above, click through to the year-range collection, and the platform is already filtered for you.
The Ram HD has two big cutoffs. First is 2010, when the 4th gen launched on the all-new DJ/D2 platform with a redesigned front clip, a strengthened frame, and CANBUS standard across the line. A 2009 bumper does not bolt to a 2010. Second is 2019, when Ram introduced the 5th gen DD platform with an all-new cab, a restyled front, heavier CANBUS, and standard front parking sensors on most trims. A 2018 bumper does not bolt to a 2019. These are the two hard breaks every Ram HD buyer should know up front. The 2006 Mega Cab refresh inside the 3rd gen is a third break worth flagging, since it restyled the front fascia and split most front bumper SKUs.
1994-2002 Ram 2500/3500 (2nd Generation, BR/BE)

| Years covered | 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 |
|---|---|
| Cross-compat | All 9 years interchange within gen |
| Body | Steel cab, steel frame, BR/BE platform |
| Sensors | None factory |
| Camera | None factory |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead |
The 2nd gen is the truck that put Ram on the heavy-duty map, launched for 1994 with the big-rig front-end styling, big-shoulders fenders, and the 5.9L Cummins inline-six diesel that built the brand's HD reputation. The BR designation covers 2500 trucks while BE covers 3500, and both share the same bumper interface across steel cab, steel frame, no sensors, no camera, and no CANBUS. Mounting is direct bolt-on to the front frame beams (the steel arms a bumper bolts to). The 1998 model year added the Quad Cab with rear half-doors, but the cab change did not affect bumper fitment since front bumpers mount ahead of the cab on the frame rails.
A 2nd-gen bumper will not bolt to a 2003 or later truck because the 3rd gen brought the DR/DH platform and a full front-end redesign. Inside 1994-2002, all nine model years share one front and rear bumper interface, and aftermarket inventory for this gen runs steady since these trucks stay on the road for decades on ranches, plow routes, and oil-field service. Shop 1994-2002 Ram 2500/3500 bumpers.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- "Dodge Ram" badging on every 1994-2002 truck, since the Ram brand did not split from Dodge until 2010, so bumpers fit by platform year and not by badge.
- 1994 and early 1995 production trucks may have minor bracket differences from later 1995-2002 trucks on a handful of supplier SKUs, so verify by VIN if your truck is a very early 1994 or 1995 build.
- Quad Cab launched mid-cycle in 1998, but the cab door change does not affect front bumper fitment. Rear bumpers may split SKU on dual-rear-wheel 3500 trucks, where the wider track requires a wider rear interface.
- Install time on this gen runs about 2 to 3 hours for a DIY swap, since there are no sensors, no camera, and no CANBUS wiring to deal with. Heavy-duty steel fronts in this era weigh 100 to 200 pounds depending on style, so grab a helper or use a floor jack to support the bumper while you set the bolts.
2003-2005 Ram 2500/3500 (3rd Generation Pre-Facelift, DR/DH)

| Years covered | 2003, 2004, 2005 |
|---|---|
| Cross-compat | All 3 years interchange within sub-gen |
| Body | Steel, DR (2500) / DH (3500) platform, all-new for 2003 |
| Sensors | None factory |
| Camera | None factory |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead |
The 3rd gen launched for 2003 on the all-new DR/DH platform as a full redesign over the 2nd gen, with a new frame, new sheet metal, a new bumper bolt pattern, and a modernized cab interior. Ram kept the live front and rear axles on 2500 and 3500 trucks while the 1500 moved to independent front suspension, so the HD frame stayed work-truck rated through this run. The 5.9L Cummins continued as the diesel option, and the 5.7L Hemi V8 replaced the 5.9L Magnum gas engine. Inside 2003-2005, the three model years share one bumper interface.
3rd-gen pre-facelift bumpers will not fit 2006-2009 trucks for most front SKUs because the 2006 model year restyled the front fascia with the Mega Cab launch, though some rears do cross with bracket changes (verify per SKU). None of these will fit a 2010 or later truck since the 4th gen DJ/D2 platform brought another full redesign. Aftermarket inventory in this range runs lighter than the 4th gen that followed, since the 2003-2005 production run was shorter. Shop 2003-2005 Ram 2500/3500 bumpers.
Watch outs:
- Quad Cab and Regular Cab share front bumper fitment in this gen, while rear bumpers may split SKU on dual-rear-wheel 3500 trucks.
- Power Wagon arrived for 2005 as a 2500-only trim with a factory integrated winch, articulating front sway bar, and a unique front bumper, so standard aftermarket fronts will fit a 2005 Power Wagon but the factory winch needs relocation (verify per SKU).
- 2003-2005 trucks sometimes get confused with 2006-2009 trucks at a quick glance, but the 2003-2005 grille is a tighter five-bar look with a body-color surround, while the 2006 refresh moved to a chunkier chrome crosshair grille. If the grille has dominant chrome crosshairs, you are in the 2006-2009 sub-gen.
- Install time runs about 2 to 3 hours DIY on a 2003-2005 truck, since there are no sensors or camera to relocate and the wiring runs through the factory trailer plug. Plan for 150 to 250 pounds of steel to lift into place, so grab a helper or a floor jack to support the bumper.
2006-2009 Ram 2500/3500 (3rd Generation Facelift, DR/DH)

| Years covered | 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 |
|---|---|
| Cross-compat | 2006-2009 interchange within sub-gen. Most fronts will NOT cross to 2003-2005 |
| Body | Steel, DR/DH platform with restyled front fascia. Mega Cab launched 2006 |
| Sensors | Optional Laramie |
| Camera | None factory |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Frontier |
The 2006 model year refreshed the 3rd gen with a new chrome crosshair grille, restyled headlights, a redesigned front bumper face, and the introduction of the Mega Cab (a stretched four-door cab with 22 extra inches of interior space and a 6.25-foot cargo box behind it). Platform stayed DR/DH, but the front-end sheet metal changed enough that most 2003-2005 bumpers will not bolt on. The other major change inside this sub-gen happened under the hood midway through the 2007 model year, when the 6.7L Cummins replaced the 5.9L Cummins to meet stricter emissions rules that took effect January 1, 2007. The engine swap does not affect bumper fitment, since both diesels mount the same way to the frame, but some off-road fronts may need clearance adjustments for the 6.7L's lower air-dam routing.
3rd-gen facelift bumpers will not bolt to 2010 or later trucks. The 4th gen DJ/D2 brought a complete platform change in 2010 with CANBUS standard. Inside 2006-2009, all four model years share one front and rear bumper interface across all cab configurations and engine choices. Mega Cab does not change bumper fitment since the front bumper mounts ahead of the cab on the frame, and the cab length sits between front and rear mounts. Shop 2006-2009 Ram 2500/3500 bumpers.
Common pitfalls:
- The 6.7L Cummins arrived partway through 2007, so a 2006 truck and an early-2007 build may both have the 5.9L Cummins while later-2007 builds have the 6.7L. Engine choice does not split bumper SKUs, but it does affect lower air-dam clearance on some off-road fronts.
- Power Wagon 2500 continued through 2009 as a separate trim with the factory winch front bumper, and some aftermarket fronts cover both standard and Power Wagon fitment while many split (verify per SKU).
- 2008 Laramie trucks introduced optional parking sensors, and most aftermarket fronts in this range pass them through cleanly (verify the cutout on the SKU).
- The 2006-2009 fronts and the 2003-2005 fronts can look similar from a distance, but the 2006 grille jumps to a much chunkier chrome crosshair design with a more aggressive face, so if your truck has the body-color five-bar grille you are in the 2003-2005 sub-gen.
- Install time runs about 2 to 4 hours DIY on a 2006-2009 truck, with optional Laramie parking sensors adding about 15 minutes of wiring time if the new front has sensor cutouts. Heavy-duty steel fronts in this era can run 150 to 300 pounds, so a second pair of hands or a floor jack makes the swap much easier.
2010-2018 Ram 2500/3500 (4th Generation, DJ/D2)

| Years covered | 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 |
|---|---|
| Cross-compat | All 9 years interchange within gen. 2013 facelift restyled grille but did NOT change bumper mounting |
| Body | Steel, DJ (2500) / D2 (3500) platform, all-new for 2010 |
| Sensors | Standard Laramie+, optional SLT |
| Camera | Standard Laramie+ from 2013 |
| CANBUS | Yes |
| Top brand in stock | Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead |
The 4th gen launched for 2010 on the all-new DJ/D2 platform with a new frame, a new front clip, a modernized interior, and CANBUS standard for the first time on Ram HD trucks, which means aftermarket bumpers for this gen need to handle that wiring layout. (Wikipedia covers the Ram pickup generation timeline and the Dodge-to-Ram brand split that happened inside this generation.) The 2010 model year was the last to wear the "Dodge Ram" badge, and from 2011 forward Stellantis sold the truck as "Ram 2500" or "Ram 3500" alone with no Dodge prefix. The platform did not change at the brand split, so a 2010 Dodge Ram 2500 bumper and a 2011 Ram 2500 bumper bolt to the same mounts.
The 2013 model year refreshed the front fascia with new LED accents on the headlights, a restyled grille, and a redesigned lower fascia. Under the hood the gas engine stayed the 5.7L Hemi V8 backed by a six-speed automatic, and the 6.4L Hemi replaced it for 2014. The 2013 refresh was visual and did NOT change the bumper mounting points. A 2010 front bumper and a 2018 front bumper bolt to the same frame interface. The 4th gen ran nine model years on one bumper architecture, which is why the catalog is the deepest of any Ram HD generation.
4th-gen bumpers will not bolt to a 2009 or earlier truck because the 3rd gen DR/DH ended with a different front clip, a different bolt pattern, and no CANBUS. They also will not fit a 2019 or later truck since the 5th gen DD brought another full redesign for 2019. Inside 2010-2018, every model year bolts to the same frame interface. Shop 2010-2018 Ram 2500/3500 bumpers.
Where buyers slip:
- This is the most-asked Ram HD fitment break: a 2009 Ram 2500 bumper will not bolt to a 2010, because the trucks look related at a quick glance but use a different front clip and a different bolt pattern.
- Tell a 2009 from a 2010 by the grille and the headlights. On a 2010 the grille jumps wider with the big Ram crosshair logo dominating the center, and the headlights pull into a more squared shape, while 2006-2009 trucks have the smaller chrome crosshair grille with chrome surround. If your truck has the wider grille with the prominent Ram logo, you are in the 2010-2018 gen.
- Laramie and Laramie Longhorn trucks with factory parking sensors need sensor-compatible aftermarket fronts, since standard fronts may trigger dash warnings.
- Power Wagon continued through 2018 as a 2500-only trim with the factory integrated winch, and standard aftermarket fronts will fit but the factory winch needs relocation (verify per SKU).
- RamBox-equipped trucks have wider bed sides, but front bumper fitment is not affected. Rear bumpers, on the other hand, must clear the RamBox latch sweep.
- 2013 refresh trucks are still 4th gen DJ/D2, since the grille restyle and LED accents added visual content but did not change the bolt pattern, so a 2010 bumper SKU bolts cleanly to a 2018 truck.
- Install time runs about 3 to 5 hours DIY for the bumper itself on a 4th gen truck, plus 15 to 30 minutes if you are relocating the front camera or factory parking sensors. Do not wire auxiliary lights into the factory fog circuit on CANBUS-equipped trucks, since the bus will throw error codes. Run a relay harness off the battery and trigger it through the factory upfitter switches. Steel fronts in this era can run 200 to 350 pounds, so plan for two people or a floor jack.
2019-2026 Ram 2500/3500 (5th Generation, DD)

| Years covered | 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Cross-compat | All 8 years interchange within gen so far |
| Body | Steel cab and bed, DD platform, all-new for 2019 |
| Sensors | Standard most trims (front + rear) |
| Camera | Standard all trims |
| CANBUS | Yes (heavy) |
| Top brand in stock | Fab Fours, Addictive Desert Designs, Ranch Hand |
The 5th gen launched for 2019 at the North American International Auto Show in January 2019. (Wikipedia covers the 5th gen Ram HD platform and the Cummins torque figures in detail.) Ram rolled out the all-new DD platform with a stronger and lighter frame, a restyled exterior, and upgraded powertrains. The diesel option is the 6.7L Cummins inline-six tuned to 1,000 lb-ft of torque on Cummins High Output trims, paired with a heavy-duty automatic. The gas option is the 6.4L Hemi V8 with an 8-speed automatic. The upper trims offer an available 12-inch touchscreen, a sign of how much electronic content rides on the CANBUS in this generation.
Here is where buyer confusion shows up. Ram phased out the old 4th gen 2500/3500 production cleanly when the 5th gen launched, so there is no Ram 2500 Classic, no Ram 3500 Classic, no carryover HD body sold alongside the new one. A 2019 Ram 2500 is always the 5th gen. A 2020 Ram 2500 is always the 5th gen. The Classic story belongs to the Ram 1500, where Stellantis kept the old DS body in production from 2019 through 2024 next to the new DT. None of that overlap applies to HD. If a competitor's article says otherwise, treat it as a buyer trap copied from the 1500 story.
None of the 4th gen DJ/D2 bumpers bolt to a DD truck because the front clip shape changed, the frame mounting brackets moved, and the wiring for accessory lighting is different. Inside 2019-2026, all model years bolt to the same mounts so far, and the aftermarket catalog filled in fast across the diesel work-truck and off-road builds. Fab Fours and Addictive Desert Designs led the first-wave DD SKUs while Ranch Hand carries the steel work-truck grille-guard lineage forward into the DD era.
FMVSS 111 made backup cameras federal law on May 1, 2018, for vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) under 10,000 lbs. Most Ram 2500 single-rear-wheel base trims sit at or below that cutoff and ship with factory cameras. 2500 dual-rear-wheel, 3500 single and dual rear wheel, 4500, and 5500 chassis cabs typically exceed 10,000 lbs GVWR and are not subject to the federal mandate. Cameras still ship factory on most modern HD trucks regardless.
Shop 2019-2026 Ram 2500/3500 bumpers.
Pitfalls in this gen:
- This is the modern Ram HD fitment break. A 2018 Ram 2500 bumper will not bolt to a 2019 DD truck. The platform, bolt pattern, and wiring are different.
- Tell a 2018 from a 2019 by the front fascia and grille. On a 2019 the grille pulls into a much wider, sharper crosshair design with optional R-A-M block lettering, and the headlights take a sharper LED signature. 2010-2018 trucks have the older squared crosshair grille with rounder headlights. If the grille reads R-A-M in block letters, you are in the 2019-2026 era.
- CANBUS integration on the DD is heavier than on the 4th gen. Adding light bars or auxiliary fog lights to an aftermarket front usually needs a CANBUS adapter to avoid dashboard error codes.
- Power Wagon continued on the DD platform for 2500 trucks with the factory integrated winch front bumper. Standard aftermarket fronts will fit a DD Power Wagon, but the factory winch needs relocation and the trim-specific articulating front sway bar should be verified per SKU.
- Do NOT wire auxiliary lights into the factory fog circuit on these trucks. The CANBUS will trigger errors or shut the circuit down. Use a relay harness pulled directly off the battery and trigger it with the factory upfitter switches.
- Install time on the 5th gen runs about 4 to 6 hours DIY, since the bumper itself goes faster than that but the front parking sensors, the front camera, the CANBUS adapter wiring, and the heavier weight of a DD front (200 to 400 pounds depending on brand and style) push the job longer. Plan for two people minimum and a floor jack to support the bumper while you set the bolts. If you run a Power Wagon, add another hour for the factory winch relocation.
Ram 4500 and Ram 5500 Chassis Cab Fitment
Step up to a Ram 4500 or 5500 and the bumper math shifts. These are cab-and-frame trucks that leave the line with no pickup bed, waiting on a flatbed, a dump body, a service body, or a wrecker deck from an upfitter. They ride the same Ram HD generations as the 2500 and 3500, so the 2010 and 2019 cutoffs still govern the front end, but the frame runs longer and the mounting brackets sit on different centers. A part number cut for a 2500 or 3500 rarely bolts straight to a 4500 or 5500.
What you want is a listing that names the 4500 or 5500 in its fitment line. Ranch Hand, Fab Fours, Hammerhead, and Frontier each build chassis-cab versions, and a few publish a single part that spans the pickup and the chassis cab in one generation. The current DD trucks carry the widest chassis-cab selection on our shelves, and coverage thins out on the older platforms. Open the full lineup and confirm the chassis-cab line before you buy.
- All Ram 4500/5500 bumpers, every generation we stock
- 2019-2026 Ram 4500/5500 bumpers, 5th gen DD
A 2009 chassis-cab bumper will not bolt to a 2010, and a 2018 will not bolt to a 2019, the same two breaks that frame the 2500 and 3500 line. Confirm the chassis-cab fitment on the listing before you order.
Sensors, Cameras and CANBUS Across Ram HD Generations
This is the consolidated reference. Match your generation row, then verify your bumper SKU supports the listed factory features.
| Generation | Park Sensors | Backup Camera | CANBUS | Winch-Ready Mounting |

| 3rd gen pre-facelift 2003-2005 (DR/DH) | None | None | None | Aftermarket only |
| 3rd gen facelift 2006-2009 (DR/DH) | Optional Laramie | None | None | Aftermarket |
| 4th gen 2010-2018 (DJ/D2) | Standard Laramie+, optional SLT | Standard Laramie+ from 2013 | Yes | Most aftermarket |
| 5th gen 2019-2026 (DD) | Standard most trims | Standard all trims | Yes (heavy) | Most aftermarket |
FMVSS 111 made backup cameras federal law on May 1, 2018, for vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR. Most Ram 2500 single-rear-wheel base trims sit at or below the cutoff and ship with factory cameras. 2500 DRW, 3500, 4500, and 5500 chassis cabs typically exceed the threshold and are not subject to the federal mandate. The vast majority of factory HD trucks in those configurations still come with the camera installed, and aftermarket rears in the 2018+ era ship with camera cutouts standard.
Every cell in the tables above traces back to the manufacturer spec sheet and the supplier's product listing we ship against. For non-standard configurations including a Power Wagon build with the factory winch, a chassis cab with a custom upfit, a Cummins build with the High Output tune, or a fleet trim with non-standard tow gear, send the year, trim, and VIN our way. We line up the right SKU against the platform your truck actually runs on before anything ships.
Common Ram 2500/3500 Fitment Mistakes
-
Treating a 2009 Ram 2500 bumper as compatible with a 2010, when the 2010 model year actually launched the 4th gen DJ/D2 platform with a new front clip, a new bolt pattern, and CANBUS standard across the line. The trucks look related at a glance, but the bumper will not align.
-
Assuming a 2020 Ram 2500 Classic exists. It does not, because the Classic was the Ram 1500 carryover body sold from 2019 to 2024, and the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 transitioned cleanly from 4th gen DJ/D2 to 5th gen DD for the 2019 model year. A 2019 or 2020 Ram 2500 is always the 5th gen DD.
-
Lumping the entire 3rd gen as one fitment range. The 2006 Mega Cab refresh restyled the front fascia and split most front bumper SKUs from the 2003-2005 trucks, so order by year and not by the 3rd-gen label alone.
-
Treating a Ram 4500 or 5500 chassis cab as the same as a Ram 2500 or 3500 pickup. They share the Ram HD platform but use different bracket spacing on most bumpers, so verify the SKU lists 4500 or 5500 explicitly before ordering for a chassis cab build.
-
Worrying that the 6.7L Cummins arrival in 2007 split bumper fitment inside the 3rd gen. It did not, because both the 5.9L and the 6.7L Cummins mount the same way to the frame, and bumper fitment is set by body year and not by engine choice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a 2009 Ram 2500 bumper fit a 2010?
No. The 2010 model year launched the 4th gen DJ/D2 platform with a redesigned front clip, a new bolt pattern, and CANBUS standard across the line. None of the 3rd gen 2003-2009 bumpers fit a 2010 or later truck.
Will a 2018 Ram 2500 bumper fit a 2019?
No. The 2019 model year launched the 5th gen DD platform with an all-new cab, a restyled front clip, and heavier CANBUS integration. None of the 4th gen 2010-2018 DJ/D2 bumpers carry over to a 2019 or later truck.
Is there a Ram 2500 Classic?
No. The Classic carryover body existed on the Ram 1500 only, where Stellantis kept the old DS body in production from 2019 through 2024 alongside the new DT. The Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 did not get a Classic variant. A 2019 Ram 2500 is always the 5th gen DD. A 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 Ram 2500 is always the 5th gen DD. If a competitor article frames a Ram HD Classic as a real product, treat that as a buyer trap copied from the Ram 1500 story.
Are Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 bumpers the same?
In most cases yes. The 2500 and 3500 share the Ram HD platform within each generation, and most aftermarket front bumpers fit both trucks at the same mounting points. The exception is dual-rear-wheel 3500 trims, which can require a wider rear bumper SKU. Verify the listing covers both single and dual rear wheel if your truck is a 3500 DRW.
Will a Ram 2500 bumper fit a Ram 4500 or 5500?
Sometimes. The 4500 and 5500 chassis cabs share the Ram HD platform with the 2500 and 3500 pickups, but their bumper bracket spacing differs on most SKUs. Some Fab Fours, Ranch Hand, Hammerhead, and Frontier bumpers list dual fitment that covers both lines. Many others split. Always confirm the SKU lists 4500 or 5500 explicitly before ordering for a chassis cab.
Will a 2005 Ram 2500 bumper fit a 2006?
No on most front SKUs. The 2006 model year restyled the front fascia inside the 3rd gen DR/DH and launched the Mega Cab. The grille and front bumper face changed enough that most 2003-2005 front bumpers will not fit a 2006-2009 truck. Some rear bumpers do cross with bracket changes; verify per SKU.
Does Power Wagon affect Ram 2500 bumper fitment?
Sometimes. Power Wagon is a 2500-only off-road trim that launched in 2005 and continues today. The factory front bumper includes an integrated winch and articulating front sway bar hooks. Standard aftermarket front bumpers will fit a Power Wagon, but the factory winch needs relocation. A handful of brands ship Power Wagon-specific SKUs that preserve the factory winch mount. Do I need a camera-compatible bumper for my Ram 2500?
Most likely yes if your truck is a 2018 or later 2500 single-rear-wheel. FMVSS 111 made backup cameras mandatory on vehicles under 10,000 lbs GVWR starting May 1, 2018, and most Ram 2500 SRW base trims sit at or below that cutoff. 2500 DRW, 3500, 4500, and 5500 typically exceed the threshold, but their factory cameras are still standard on most modern HD trucks. Any aftermarket rear bumper for a 2018+ Ram HD should carry the camera cutout.

Most-shopped year ranges:
Caught between a 2009 and a 2010 Ram 2500, unsure whether a 2018 bumper bolts to a 2019 new-body truck, or trying to pin down Power Wagon or 4500/5500 chassis cab fitment before ordering? Drop the year, the trim level, the engine choice, and a photo of the badge into a quick message ahead of checkout. We cross-reference the supplier's fitment sheet against the platform your truck actually rides on and answer back with the matching SKU.
