How to Choose a Bumper for Your 1999-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500
Decide on winch-readiness, light integration, and brushguard coverage first. Steel gauge follows.
Most affordable: Ranch Hand FSC99HBL1 Summit Front Bumper at $1,745. Ranch Hand is 100% US-fabricated by hand in south Texas. Diamond-plate steel face, 165 lbs, black powder coat. No-winch Summit profile, fits 1999-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 only. Will not accommodate Z71 fog lights, will not fit with a body lift.
Bay Springs, Mississippi is where Hammerhead builds. Mid-tier: Hammerhead 600-56-0131 Low Profile Front Winch Bumper at $1,934. 7-gauge steel, 174 lbs, black textured powder coat. Winch-ready integrated mount, no brushguard, low-profile face for clean grille visibility.
Top-tier: Hammerhead 600-56-0110 Full Brush Guard Front Bumper at $2,573. Hammerhead spun off from Hol-Mac steel fabrication in 2008. 7-gauge steel, 214 lbs, black textured powder coat. Winch-ready with full-height brushguard and integrated light bar provisions.
Tier 3 options also stocked: Frontier diamond-plate fronts and rears, plus ARB Australian-made Deluxe with grille guard. Bolt-on installation across all three. See the grid for flush-mount rear options.
What Fits Your 1999-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500
Bumpers on this page cover the 1st-gen Chevy Silverado 1500 GMT800 platform, model years 1999 through 2002. The Silverado nameplate launched for 1999, replacing the C/K 1500. The 2003 mid-cycle refresh redrew the front fascia, hood, grille, and headlamps. Front bumpers labeled 1999-2002 do not bolt up to a 2003-2006 GMT800 truck.
Factory parking sensors were not equipped on 1999-2002 Silverado 1500 trucks. Aftermarket bumpers on this page do not require sensor cutouts. From what we've seen, sensor questions only come up when a previous owner added an aftermarket reverse-sensor kit.
Cross-gen note: the 1988-1998 Chevy C/K 1500 GMT400 predecessor uses different mounts; do not cross-fit a C/K bumper. The 2007.5 GMT900 NBS uses a different platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a bumper made for the 1999-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 fit a GMC Sierra 1500 of the same year?
GMT800 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 share the same frame and bumper mounts from 1999 through 2002. Most aftermarket bumpers in this generation fit both nameplates. Some listings name only the Silverado, but the truck is mechanically identical. Verify the year and cab style on each product listing before ordering.
Can I keep my factory fog lights when installing this bumper on a 1999-2002 Chevy Silverado 1500?
Depends on the bumper. The Ranch Hand FSC99HBL1 Summit will not accommodate Z71 fog lights per the manufacturer note. Hammerhead Low Profile and Full Brush Guard do not retain fog light cutouts; some configurations relocate them above the bar. Check each listing for fog light compatibility.
What gauge or thickness of steel is used in these 1999-2002 Silverado 1500 bumpers?
Front bumpers on this page run 7-gauge steel (Hammerhead Low Profile, Pre-Runner, Full Brush Guard) or diamond-plate steel (Ranch Hand FSC99HBL1 Summit). Hammerhead rears are 0.250-inch steel plate, near 1/4 inch. Frontier and ARB fronts list heavy-duty steel without a published gauge. Each listing names the spec.
