Start With the Rear Bumper
The back of the truck is where this lineup runs deepest, and your body style sets the list. A 2014-2018 Sierra 1500 picks between two rear bumpers, the Fortis and the HD Replacement. A 2019-2026 truck gets all three, the HD Elevation included.
When recovery happens off the rear, run the Fortis. Its D-ring shackle mounts give a strap a solid place to pull from. It also carries mounts for LED cube reverse lights. The body is 6-gauge steel. In gauge sizing, 6 is thick plate, the kind that wants two people on the lift.
Spend more time in the bed than the cab? The HD Elevation builds a step into each rear corner, so you get a boot up without dropping the tailgate. It keeps your factory license plate lights and takes two-inch reverse LEDs. On this page it is a 2019-2026 part only.
The HD Replacement is the workhorse pick: schedule 40 steel pipe, a structural pipe spec, with no extras on it. Of the three, it sits closest to a stock bumper, just in heavier metal.
Now the fine print, and on this truck it matters. The 2019 model year is two trucks. GMC sold the redesigned Sierra next to the outgoing body, badged Sierra 1500 Limited. The 2019-2026 rear bumpers exclude the Limited. Steelcraft's fit notes point Limited owners to the 2014-2018 part numbers instead. Super Cruise is the hard stop. If your 2022 or newer Sierra has GM's hands-free highway option, none of these rears fits it. Running the optional dual exhaust? The factory tips go away with the stock rear. None of these three brings them back. One note sits on the HD Replacement alone. Steelcraft warns that the fold-out step on GMC's MultiPro tailgate, the multi-position gate on the Sierra, does not always clear this bumper. No such note sits on the Fortis or the Elevation.
The job itself is the same across the three. Bolt-on brackets on factory points. Hardware and instructions in the box. Freight delivery to your door. Steelcraft's install sheets budget 3 to 5 hours. Every sheet says the same thing about the weight: bring a second person. Your factory hitch is not part of the job, all three rears mount around it. Every rear here leaves room for the parking sensors. The 2019-2026 parts list blind-spot room as well.
One Front Bumper, and It Belongs to the Older Body
The front catalog is short: the Fortis front bumper, part 71-10470. It fits the 2016-2018 Sierra 1500 and the 2019 Sierra 1500 Limited, the carryover body. It does not fit the redesigned 2019-2026 trucks. There is no front for the 2014-2015 trucks on this page either.
The Fortis front is an open bullnose with no grille guard on it, and nothing on this page carries one. What it brings instead: a slot that fits most 20-inch double-row light bars, plus pedestal mounts for four 3-inch LED cubes. Add D-ring shackle mounts and room for the factory parking sensors. It is 6-gauge steel at 142 pounds, finished matte black. The e-coat under the powder coat gives rust two layers to fight through.
Two notes from the install sheet before you order. The factory tow hooks do not go back on with this bumper. And Steelcraft warns that some trucks need cutting during the job. Plan the same 3 to 5 hours as the rears. You will want help on the lift, and the bolt-on hardware comes in the box.
Every brand we fit to this truck shares one page: GMC Sierra 1500 bumpers. Set Steelcraft next to the rest and decide there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Steelcraft rear bumper fits a 2020 or 2021 GMC Sierra 1500?
All three. The Fortis 76-20490 carries the D-ring shackle mounts. The HD Elevation 65-20490 puts a step into each rear corner. The HD Replacement HD20490 is the plain one in schedule 40 pipe. The Super Cruise exclusion does not start until the 2022 models. For these two years, choose by what the back of your truck does: recovery, bed access, or a clean factory profile.
Do these Sierra 1500 bumpers also fit the Chevy Silverado 1500?
The two trucks are GM twins. Several of Steelcraft's fit notes even name both in one line. The lineups are not identical, though. If you drive the Chevy, order from the Steelcraft Silverado 1500 page. That keeps the part number matched to your truck, year, and body.
Will a Steelcraft rear bumper clear the MultiPro tailgate and the rear sensors?
Sensors, yes. Every rear here has room for the factory parking sensors. The 2019-2026 parts list room for the blind-spot sensors too. The MultiPro tailgate needs one check: Steelcraft warns that its fold-out step does not always clear the HD Replacement rear. The Fortis and HD Elevation listings carry no such warning. Separate from that, Super Cruise trucks from 2022 on are off the list for all three rears.
