Ram 1500 Trim Levels: Which Ones Need Their Own Bumper

Silver Ram 1500 on the highway wearing a Ranch Hand Midnight front bumper with a grille guard

Updated September 2026. Trim facts come from Ram's press releases, window stickers and parts catalog. Fit notes are quoted word for word from each bumper listing.

On the current US Ram 1500, sold since 2019, only 4 trims need a steel bumper built just for them: the Rebel, the Tungsten, the TRX and the RHO. Most aftermarket front bumpers are built for the front end the other trims share. The year matters too: many bumpers for 2019-2024 trucks are not listed for a 2025.

So asking for a bumper for a 2022 Ram 1500 is only half the question. Park a 2022 Big Horn next to a 2022 Rebel. Same year, same truck name, and a steel bumper built for one will not fit the other. The trim name is the other half.

It trips up real buyers. This spring a 2019 Rebel owner sent us the fit line from a Steelcraft bumper, "Excludes Classic, Rebel/TRX", and asked in chat what the difference was. This post is the long answer.

The 3 groups
  1. Most bumpers are built for the standard front end. Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited and Limited Longhorn, plus the new-body Warlock (2025 on) and Express (2026 on). Why
  2. Rebel and Tungsten take only bumpers that name them. Their front end is their own. Why
  3. TRX and RHO take only bumpers that name them, too. They are wider trucks. Why

Every 2026 Ram 1500 Trim, and Its Group

Ram lists 10 trims for 2026. Prices start at $42,025 for a Tradesman, before the $2,795 destination charge.

Trim What sets it apart
Tradesman
Group 1
The work truck, and the base for the Express and Warlock packages.
Express
Group 1
Tradesman with body-color bumpers and 20-inch wheels. On this body since 2026; earlier ones are Classics.
Warlock
Group 1
Tradesman with a 1-inch lift, skid plates and tow hooks. On this body since 2025; earlier ones are Classics.
Big Horn / Lone Star
Group 1
The step up from the Tradesman. Lone Star is its name in Texas.
Laramie
Group 1
Leather-trimmed seats.
Rebel
Group 2
Off-road: Bilstein shocks, a 1-inch lift and its own front end.
RHO
Group 3
Off-road speed: 540 hp and a body 88 inches wide.
Limited
Group 1
Luxury, with LED projector headlamps.
Limited Longhorn
Group 1
The Limited with filigree leather seats.
Tungsten
Group 2
The top trim: 540 hp and a body-color cover instead of a separate front bumper.

The TRX, sold 2021-2024, sits with the RHO in group 3.

Group 1: Most Bumpers Are Built for This Front End

This is the easy group. Ranch Hand, Steelcraft, Fab Fours and most other makers build their Ram 1500 front bumpers for the front end that the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Limited and Limited Longhorn share. Ram's parts catalog, Mopar, lists the same front bumper and brackets for all 5.

The new-body Express and Warlock belong here too, but some listings say no to them by name, so read the fit line. If yours is a 2020-2023 EcoDiesel, read the diesel note first.

Past those checks, you shop by gear, not by trim. Pick a bumper whose listing says yes to each of these your truck has:

  • Front park sensors. They sit right in the stock bumper.
  • Adaptive cruise and forward collision warning. They need a clear view ahead, and Ram's owner's manual warns that a front-end protector can block it. A listing may call these ADAS.

On the 2026 window stickers we pulled for the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel and Limited, front sensors and adaptive cruise both came standard. On an older truck, check yours.

There is also gear under the bumper: the active air dam, a panel that drops near 35 mph to cut drag. An owner on 5thGenRams got a check-engine light after removing it, and few listings mention it. Most trucks in this group have one, so ask us about it before you order.

Ranch Hand's Summit front bumper shows the kind of listing to look for. Both versions, for 2019-2024 and for 2025-2026 trucks, say yes to front park sensors, the camera and adaptive cruise.

Group 2: Rebel and Tungsten Need a Bumper That Names Them

Own a Rebel? Shop bumpers built for the Rebel. ADD builds its Stealth Fighter Rebel front bumper for the 2019-2023 Rebel, in a winch version too. Neither fits the EcoDiesel. The Ram Rebel bumpers page also holds bumpers for the 2015-2018 Rebel, so match your years. For a diesel Rebel, or a 2024 or newer one, ask us first.

A steel bumper built for a Big Horn will not fit a Rebel. Mopar gives the Rebel its own bumper beam and brackets up front. Steelcraft and Fab Fours list the Rebel as a no, and so does Ranch Hand's 2019-2024 Summit front bumper.

An owner on the 5thGenRams forum measured the panel under the headlights: about 3 inches on the Rebel, about 5 on the other trims. By that owner's numbers, a standard bumper on a Rebel would leave about a 2-inch gap.

The Tungsten, new for 2025, needs a bumper that names it, and none on our site does yet. Ranch Hand and Steelcraft both leave it off their 2025-2026 bumpers. As a member on 5thGenRams put it, "the front end fascia eliminates the separate front bumper." Own one? Ask us first.

Group 3: TRX and RHO Need a Wide-Body Bumper

The TRX (2021-2024) and the RHO (2025 on) take only bumpers built for them. ADD and Fab Fours build TRX front bumpers. The RHO is newer, and no front bumper on our site lists it yet, so ask us before you order.

Both are wide-body trucks. Ram's spec sheets put them at 88 inches wide, against 81 to 82 inches for a standard Ram 1500. Their front wheels sit 6 inches farther apart, under wide fender flares.

How to Read a Fit Line

Bumper listings carry a fit line, the line that says which trucks the bumper fits. Here is one much like the line that Rebel owner sent us, from Steelcraft's HD Replacement front bumper.

Vehicle Fit, Steelcraft HD12270RC
2019-2024 Ram 1500 (Excludes Classic1 + Rebel2/TRX3 & 2020 1500 EcoDiesel4)
  1. Classic is the old-body Ram 1500 that Ram built beside the new one through 2024. It takes 2013-2018 bumpers, except the Classic Warlock, which Steelcraft's Classic bumpers leave off.
  2. Rebel is group 2, its own front end. So for that Rebel owner, this line was a no.
  3. TRX is group 3, the wide body.
  4. EcoDiesel is the 3.0 diesel, sold 2020-2023, with its own lower grille. ADD, Body Armor, Ranch Hand, Steelcraft, Warn and Fab Fours all rule it out. Read 2020 EcoDiesel on a fit line as any 2020-2023 diesel.

Now read it for your own truck:

  • A no rules it out. If the line says no to your trim or package, your body, your engine or gear on your truck, skip that bumper.
  • Rebel, Tungsten, TRX or RHO? Your trim has to be named. Buy only a listing that names your trim and your years. It works both ways: ADD's "2019-2023 Ram Rebel 1500" fits the Rebel only.
  • Classic? Buy a bumper built for the Classic or for 2013-2018. Any other line that starts in 2019 or later is for the new body. A Classic Warlock is the exception, so ask us.
  • Silence is not a yes. If your truck has a diesel or gear the line does not mention, check the maker's fit list or ask us.

Watch the years, too. The Steelcraft line above stops at 2024. For newer trucks, Steelcraft and Ranch Hand sell separate 2025-2026 front bumpers. The listing's years settle it.

Questions We Get

What are the Ram 1500 trim levels in order?
For 2026, Ram lists 10: Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn (Lone Star in Texas), Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, Limited Longhorn and Tungsten.

Will a Big Horn bumper fit a Rebel?
No. Only a bumper whose listing names the Rebel fits, because the Rebel's front end is its own.

Does a 2019-2024 Ram 1500 bumper fit a 2025 or 2026?
Only if its listing names your year. Some bumpers carry on into 2025, and some makers sell separate 2025-2026 bumpers.

Can I keep my front sensors and adaptive cruise with a steel bumper?
Yes, if the bumper's listing says yes to them. Most 2026 trims come with both. If your truck is older, check which ones it has.
