The Front Bumper: A Pre-Runner, No Winch
The front is Hammerhead's pre-runner, cut from 3/16-inch steel plate. It weighs 124 pounds and wears a black textured powder coat. Hammerhead builds this steel in Bay Springs, Mississippi. A tubular guard rises over the center for a taller stance and light mounts. It holds four 3.25-inch cube lights, plus a 20-inch bar in the middle. The shackle mounts are 3/4-inch steel, welded inside and out, and tie straight to the frame.
Be clear on one thing before you order. This front does not take a winch, and it does not take a front receiver hitch. The pre-runner build handles protection and lights, not a winch line. If a front winch is the goal, this is not your bumper.
The Rear Bumper: Flush Steel and Tag Lights
The rear is a flush-mount bumper in quarter-inch steel plate. It weighs 106 pounds, in the same finish. It sits tight to the body for a clean line. Tag lights and steps are built in. The shackle mounts weld through the mounting surface, the same way the front's do. Want lights out back? It is pre-cut for optional flush-mount LEDs.
Which Trucks These Fit, and the Install
Both bumpers fit the first-generation Colorado, the 2004 through 2012 trucks. One fitment covers the whole run. Chevy dropped the Colorado after 2012, then brought it back with a full redesign for 2015. That later truck rides a different body with different frame mounts. Nothing on this page bolts to it, so match your year to the grid before you order.
Install is bolt-on at the factory holes. No cutting, no welding. Neither bumper is light, though. The front runs 124 pounds and the rear 106, so line up a second person to lift and hold. Every order ships free by LTL freight anywhere in the US. The fit is guaranteed to your truck.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do bumpers for the 2015 and newer Colorado bolt onto a first-generation truck?
No. When the Colorado returned for 2015 it was fully redesigned, with a different body and different frame mounts. Bumpers cut for the 2015 and newer trucks will not bolt to the first-generation 2004-2012 Colorado. Both Hammerhead bumpers here fit the first-gen truck only. For the newer body, start at the 2015-2019 Chevy Colorado bumpers.
Can I mount a winch on the front bumper?
No. This front is a pre-runner, and it is not cut for a winch or a front receiver hitch. You get a tubular guard and mounts for four cube lights and a 20-inch light bar, but there is no winch tray. If a front winch is part of your build, this is not the bumper for it.
How heavy are these, and can one person install them?
The front bumper weighs 124 pounds and the rear weighs 106, so plan on a second set of hands. Both are a bolt-on job at the factory frame holes, with no cutting or welding. Basic hand tools and a helper to steady the steel while you start the bolts are all it takes.
