They are made with 1/4" thick plate steel and are reinforced to allow for extra strength while keeping the bumpers as light as possible.
All rear bumpers include tag lights, steps, and shackle mounts.
The shackle mounts are a part of the mounting surface to the frame, extending through the bumper, and are welded on the inside and outside of the bumper.
Optional flush mount LED lights are available for purchase.

Hammerhead 600-56-0704 Ford F150 1988-1996 Flush Mount Rear Bumper

On this rear the light pockets are cut flush into the face of the steel. Nothing hangs below the bumper line to catch a trailer ramp, a rock or a loading dock. Flush-mount LEDs are sold separately for those pockets. The body is 1/4 inch steel plate on nearly all fitments, heavier stock than the fronts carry, and most include step pads. The shackle mounts, where a D-ring bolts in, are not bolted on: they run through the bumper into the frame mounting surface, welded inside and out. If your truck has parking sensors, it takes its own part number.
