Updated July 2026.
Plenty of truck bumpers are still made the old way, in an American shop, by people who weld for a living. Five of the brands we carry build that way from start to finish. You can even point to the town each one comes from: Shiner in Texas, Lancaster in South Carolina, Bay Springs in Mississippi, Center Point in Texas, and Clackamas in Oregon. Here is what each brand is known for, who it suits, and which bumper to look at first. If you are still working out style and material, start with our complete guide to choosing a truck bumper.
⚡ Quick Answer
Five bumper brands with US fabrication, by plant:
- Shiner, Texas → Ranch Hand
- Lancaster, South Carolina → Fab Fours
- Bay Springs, Mississippi → Hammerhead
Frontier Truck Gear and Warn round out the five. Plants, specs and picks are below.

How We Picked These Brands
Simple filter. Each brand had to build its bumpers in the United States and say where, and it had to carry real coverage for real trucks in our catalog today. Five cleared it, and they are all brands worth knowing regardless of where they were welded.
Nobody paid to be on this list, and nobody was left off as a knock. A lot of good bumpers are built elsewhere and we sell plenty of them. This page is for the buyer who wants the steel welded here.
One note on the corporate map: Warn bought Fab Fours in 2021. Separate plants, separate states, so both earned their own spot.
The Five Brands and Where They Build
1. Ranch Hand
Built in Shiner, Texas
Ranch Hand goes first because it was there first. In 1986 a small shop in south Texas bolted a grille guard onto a truck, making it one of the first manufacturers in what became the truck accessory industry. The first customer was a rancher, and the problem was the one ranchers actually have: a deer or a stray cow on a county road at dusk, and a front end that has to survive the meeting. Four decades later that is still the brief.
The company grew from that single rancher's truck to tens of thousands across the country, and it never left. Ranch Hand still builds in Shiner, Texas, on 320,000 square feet, with more than 200 people running 40,000 pounds of steel a day. It is a Lippert brand now, and production stayed put.
What you get for that history is a specific kind of bumper. Ranch Hand does not chase trail styling. It builds thick, form-fitted steel that reads as though the truck left the factory wearing it. The engineering goes into the part nobody looks at until the day it matters, which is how the bumper ties into the frame. The Legend is the heavy end of the range and the line the brand is known for. The Summit sits below it, built lighter on purpose so one bumper covers both 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks.

On the 2015-2017 F150 the Summit is a full-replacement front bumper with a diamond-plate body and a wraparound guard built from 4 inch schedule 40 pipe, and it weighs 200 pounds. Schedule 40 is a pipe wall thickness spec borrowed from plumbing and structural work, and it is heavy for a bumper hoop. It bolts to the factory locations with no cutting or drilling, keeps the factory fog lights, and comes as one fully welded piece rather than a bolted assembly. Buy it if you want the classic Texas ranch front end on a half-ton, built by the company that invented the look. Tier: mid.

2. Fab Fours
Built in Lancaster, South Carolina
Fab Fours is the design house of the group. Greg Higgs started it in 2004 in South Carolina and built the brand by doing things the rest of the segment would not risk. Show trucks nobody asked for, like the Kymera concept. And the Grumper, a single piece of steel that replaces the grille and the bumper together, which took SEMA's Showstopper award. That is not a product a cautious bumper company makes.
The upside for a buyer is range. Where most brands run two or three shapes, Fab Fours runs Black Steel for straight heavy protection, Vengeance and Matrix for heavier full-width builds, Ghost for a stubby front that stops short of the fenders to clear bigger tires, and the Grumper for owners who want the whole face changed. In our catalog it carries the widest front bumper selection of the five brands here. The company also publishes the steel thickness and the American origin of the material line by line, so you know exactly what you are bolting on.
Warn bought the company in 2021, and the plant did not move.

The Black Steel front bumper for the 2019-2024 Ram HD shows the house style. It is 14-gauge US steel with a diamond tread plate face and a full guard, 300 pounds, finished in a two-stage black powder coat, and tow hooks come with it. Gauge is the industry's thickness number for sheet steel, and it counts backward, so a lower number means thicker material. Sensor compatibility runs on 2019-2023 trucks. A winch tray is available separately, and fitting it means disconnecting the sensor, which is the kind of trade-off worth knowing before you order rather than after. Buy it if you want a full guard and 300 pounds of coverage, with the option to add a winch later. Tier: mid.

3. Hammerhead
Built in Bay Springs, Mississippi
Hammerhead is here because of what its parent company builds the rest of the week. Hammerhead Armor came out of Hol-Mac Corporation, a Mississippi steel fabricator that has been privately owned for over 60 years and does world class steel fabrication for some of the largest original equipment manufacturers in the world. Hol-Mac runs eight brands across seven ISO 9001 facilities with more than 800 craftsmen, and the rest of its work is heavy custom fabrication and hydraulic cylinders for industry. Bumpers are that same capability pointed at a truck.
That lineage is the argument for the brand. Hammerhead did not have to learn how to handle thick plate, because the shop was already doing it for industrial customers. The choices show it. Seven-gauge steel on the heavy lines. Mounting that runs through the frame instead of hanging off a bracket. A nine-step coating process. Buy Hammerhead when the truck works in country that punishes a front end and you want industrial steelwork rather than an accessory. The headquarters is still in Bay Springs, where the line started.

The pre-runner front bumper for the 2023-2025 Super Duty is built from 7-gauge steel and weighs 195 pounds. That is roughly 0.18 inch thick, more than twice the 14 gauge on the Fab Fours pick above. It mounts through the frame, takes a winch, and needs no cutting or drilling. One honest limit: this bumper is not compatible with ADAS, so trucks running adaptive cruise or front radar should look at another pick on this list. If the shape appeals to you, our pre-runner bumper guide covers what the hoop protects and when to skip it. Tier: premium.

4. Frontier Truck Gear
Built in Center Point, Texas
Frontier is the small shop on this list, and that is the appeal. Rocky Marshall started the company in 2001, and it builds in Center Point, a town in the Texas hill country west of San Antonio. The bumpers are handcrafted rather than line-produced, and Frontier says so plainly.
The signature is visual. Frontier runs a diamond plate face across the Original series and shapes each bumper tight to the body it bolts to, so the fit reads custom rather than universal. Buy Frontier when you want a hand-built Texas bumper with a face nobody will mistake for a factory part. One thing the company does not publish is where its steel comes from. It names the town it welds in and stops there, so that is all we will claim for it.

The Original front bumper for the 2010-2018 Ram HD is 186 pounds, black powder coated, and installs with no drilling. It accommodates the factory tow hooks, the fog lights and the park assist sensors, which keeps a working truck working. Buy it if you run an older HD truck and want a hand-built replacement shaped for that exact body. Frontier's coverage in our catalog is strongest on trucks from roughly 2018 and earlier, so check the year filter on the collection before you settle on it. Tier: mid.

5. Warn
Built in Clackamas, Oregon
Warn earns its place by not having started as a bumper company at all. Arthur and Sadie Warn ran a Willys dealership in Washington in the 1930s and founded Warn Industries in 1948 around a single idea: turning the thousands of surplus World War II Jeeps coming home into usable road vehicles. The locking wheel hub Arthur invented to do it went from door-to-door sales in Seattle, to a mail order business built on ads in the back of Popular Mechanics, to factory optional equipment at the domestic automakers by 1954. Then in 1959 Warn moved into electric winches, a category it says it opened up.
That is the reason to look at a Warn bumper specifically. Most bumpers are designed to accept a winch. Warn designs both halves of that connection, so the winch structure is the starting point of the bumper rather than a tray added to it. Buy Warn when recovery is a real part of the job and you want the mount and the winch engineered by the same people. The company runs 180,000 square feet in Clackamas, Oregon with close to 400 workers and more than 100 patents, and describes its line as designed, engineered and assembled in the USA.

If the build starts with a winch, this is the pick on the list designed around one. The Ascent HD for the 2019-2026 Ram HD and chassis cab is welded one-piece construction in 1/4 inch and 3/16 inch steel, and it weighs 380 pounds. The winch structure is integrated, with a mount rated to 18,000 pounds that takes winches up to the 16.5ti. It also carries welded eyelets for D-shackles and ports for four 3-inch cube lights. If a winch is the point of the build, read our winch-ready bumper buying guide before you pick a capacity. Tier: premium.

Drive something other than a Super Duty or a Ram HD? No problem. Between them these five cover Silverado and Sierra, F150, Ram 1500 and the HD trucks, with Tacoma and Tundra fits on some lines. Every bumper is cut for a specific model year, so use the year filter on the brand collection, or work through the complete truck bumper fitment guide if you want the generation-by-generation version.
What "Made in USA" Means on a Label
Short version, because the phrase gets thrown around loosely.
To say Made in USA with no strings attached, the FTC requires a product to be "all or virtually all" built here: final assembly, all the significant work, and essentially all the parts. Since 2021 the agency can fine companies that stretch it.
"Assembled in USA" is the honest label for real American work that does not quite clear that bar. It is a more precise claim, not a weaker one. That is why the wording shifts a little from brand to brand on this page, and why we use each company's own words instead of rounding them all up to the same phrase.
Sensors, Cameras and ADAS
Steel bumpers and truck electronics do not always get along, and it comes down to the individual bumper, not the brand. Quick read on the five picks:
- Ranch Hand Summit: keeps the factory fog lights and tow hooks; this F150 listing does not state sensor compatibility, so confirm it for your truck
- Frontier Original: keeps the park assist sensors, tow hooks and fog lights
- Fab Fours Black Steel: sensor compatible on 2019-2023 Ram HD, though not alongside the optional winch tray
- Hammerhead pre-runner: not compatible with ADAS, so skip it if your truck runs adaptive cruise or front radar
- Warn Ascent HD: built around the winch mount, so check sensor fitment for your year
Whichever way you go, read the fitment notes on the listing for your exact year. That is where the truth lives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which truck bumper brands are made in the USA?
Ranch Hand builds in Shiner, Texas. Fab Fours builds in Lancaster, South Carolina. Hammerhead builds in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Frontier Truck Gear builds in Center Point, Texas. Warn builds in Clackamas, Oregon. Each of those locations is stated by the manufacturer on its own site.
How can I find out where a bumper is built?
Check the manufacturer's own site for a named town. Companies that fabricate domestically usually say so and name the place. Every brand on this page lists one: Shiner, Lancaster, Bay Springs, Center Point and Clackamas.
Is "Assembled in USA" the same as "Made in USA"?
No. "Assembled in USA" is a qualified claim, which means the product has meaningful U.S. work but does not meet the "all or virtually all" standard for an unqualified Made in USA claim. Both can be accurate. They describe different amounts of domestic content.
Are American-made bumpers heavier than imported ones?
Not by origin. Weight follows material and design. Among the picks here, the Hammerhead pre-runner is 195 pounds on 7-gauge steel, the Ranch Hand Summit is 199 pounds, the Frontier Original is 186 pounds, and the Warn Ascent HD reaches 380 pounds because it carries an integrated winch structure.
Do these bumpers work with parking sensors?
Some do, and it depends on the exact bumper and model year rather than the brand. The Ranch Hand Summit retains front sensors on the 2017-2022 Super Duty, the Frontier Original accommodates park assist, Fab Fours Black Steel is sensor compatible on 2019-2023 Ram HD, and the Hammerhead pre-runner is not compatible with ADAS.
Can I install an American-made steel bumper myself?
Usually yes, with help. Most picks here mount on factory bolt locations with no drilling, including the Ranch Hand Summit, the Frontier Original and the Hammerhead pre-runner. These bumpers weigh 186 to 380 pounds, so plan on a second person and a jack or a hoist to hold the weight during the swap.
How long does shipping take on a steel bumper?
Most bumper orders ship by LTL freight and take roughly 5 to 10 business days in transit. Freight delivery is scheduled, so the carrier contacts you to arrange a window.
